(More customer reviews)I bought this knife recently as a work knife at my job. I am a professional chef and I am experienced and well educated on cutlery. This is the second ceramic knife I have bought, the first was dropped by a co-worker and that knife shattered. I love working with ceramic knives because they are the sharpest knives around,period. Nothing is sharper. It glides through food. It requires a bit more care, but if you take good care if it ,it will last a lifetime. This knife is very versitile in the 7" model and very resonably priced. Perfect for meat and fish, slicing, fruit and vegatables. I can cut perfect slices, juliannes, and very fine dice. I laugh when I hear people talk about " my shun knife" or the extremely over-rated "my henckels". They are good all right but very expensive and they will NEVER be as sharp or hold it for as long as a ceramic.

Now, I will say this knife has one thing I don't care for. While the handle is extremely comfortable and feels oh-so-natural( it actually helps cutting in a mechanical sense by design),if the handle is greasy or oily (when cutting steaks from large cuts or dealing with certain fish it can get oily from handeling) it becomes slippery. Not good for a knife as razor sharp as this. Just keep it clean, protect it from abuse and you will have a knife like no other for alooooong time. In a home I suspect it will not be subject to the rigors I put it through, therefore this knife is a great value for the home chef. I would put this knife up against Shun or Henckles or Wusthof any day.

(More customer reviews)We bought this thinking it would look better than stainless steel. We love to compost and this pail sure beats keeping a bucket on the counter. However, it is heavy and the handle is poorly made. When you life up the handle it comes off of the clunky clips on the side. This really needs to be redesigned.
We removed the poor handle after the first trip to the compost. The ceramic is not only heavy, but it is also much harder to keep clean that the stainless steel. The ceramic tends to pick up stains which are hard to scrub out. And of course there is always the fear of breaking it.
As long as the filter is kept clean and fresh, the pail emits no odors. Whether you choose stainless steel or ceramic, make sure you buy some extra filters. You'll be happy you did.

(More customer reviews)Recently ordered this, hoping its blades wouldn't dull over time, like typical metal peelers ... this peeler has a single ceramic blade, which is quite sharp and peels thin sections.
But, the single blade means you can only use in one direction - away from you, if you're right-handed and toward you, if left-handed.
I hadn't really analyzed my veggie peeling directions before but have discovered, depending on the vegetable, some I peel away and some toward.
I briefly thought the blade could be removed and flipped. It can be removed. But it can not be flipped (pegs on the blade and holes in the handle are different-sized).
Kinda disappointed that the blade doesn't flip or it's not a double-blade or they don't offer a left-hand version.
If you peel all your veggies in one direction (the "correct" direction, for your handedness), then this seems like it's a decent peeler.

(More customer reviews)The other reviewer must own the company that is selling these bunk containers which keep food less fresh than the plastic bags the grocer provides. REally...not only do they not work they do not wash well in the dishwasher, become totally mishapen and are difficult to seal. I have been using the glad and zip lock containers and they also keep food fresher than these do. These containers are difficult to store, have lids that warp and the food I eagerly stored in them rotted so fast I was angry that I bought them. Not only that I purchased these on the always fresh official site. The picture shows 10 containers with lids and promises that you will get 2 sets if ordered that day...which i did. My invoice stated 20 pieces and after 4 weeks and $9 in shipping fees I received 5 bunk containers. These people should be sued. This is the first time I have bought anything from those ads on TV..and I know now why all the ads feature a $19.95 product with excessive shipping and handling fees. This is borderline criminal marketing designed to rip off the consumer for an amount too little to fight over and too expensive or difficult to return the merchandise for a refund thus leaving the consumer to just 'eat' the crappy merchandise. I think more consumers need to raise the dickens for these types of products. Especially this one which is THE WORST.

Kyocera Revolution Series 5-Inch Micro Serrated Utility Knife Review

(More customer reviews)This knife, like all of Kyocera's ceramic knives, is good looking and has a terrific sharp edge. Like the rest of their plastic handled series, the grip is contoured to be thinner at the front and back and wider in the middle. The grip feels comfortable in the hand, and provides for good positive control over the blade.
In general size, this is very similar to the Kyocera 5" utility knife in this series (which is an excellent general kitchen knife). However, the blade is not as tall as the unserrated knife, and this one has a micro-serrated edge. The size and shape make this blade better suited for slicing than chopping, but for slicing vegetables, it is very effective.
The serrations on the blade are barely visible, but they have a definite effect when cutting. Despite being tiny, the serrations let the blade 'grip' what you cut more effectively. This makes slicing at angles much easier, especially on food with a smooth skin, such as tomatoes. The knife is also decent for bread, certainly better than an unserrated knife, but not as quite as good as a knife with a deeply serrated edge.
Although the serrated edge probably means that the blade will be difficult to sharpen, the ceramic isn't expected to need sharpening for a long time. Between the ceramic composition of the blade and the plastic handle, this knife requires very little care other than basic washing.
This knife is available with either a white or black blade (I actually have the black-bladed version), both with a black handle.
While this may not be as good a universal utility knife as the unserrated version, or as good for chopping as a larger blade, this knife makes a great vegetable slicer and a terrific addition to the a set of kitchen knives.

(More customer reviews)Although I also bought a "professional mandoline", I thought this would make a handy little item. Boy - was I right! I use this mandoline more than the professional. Why? It is convenient! It's very sharp (the porcelein blade is much sharper than metal), the hand guard is comfortable and easy to use, the whole device is dishwasher safe, and it takes little counter space and little storage space. I use it to slice veggies for everything from sandwiches to tostadas to soups to breakfast burritos. Here's what it does not do: Although the blade is "adjustable", only the biggest setting works correctly. The smaller settings makes mush of your veggies. Also, it is not quite wide enough. At the thickest part of a big round onion, it would have to be turned sideways. Finally, it only has 1 blade and so it only does the one style of cut. I highly recommend it. It is so easy to use that you will use it frequently. In fact, when you think: "Should I drag out the big mandoline?" You will say "No, I'll just use my little one (the Kyocera)".

I had reservations when I saw this, as the price was definitely good ($50 for 2 ceramic knives and a ceramic peeler) but never heard of the brand "Shenzhen Knives" (I assume this is a Japanese brand). Am actually pleasantly surprised with it so far. The knives are very sharp (I haven't had to sharpen it yet) and it cuts very well. No problems with any fruits and veggies. The rubber grips I definitely like, as it makes cutting easier on the hand and forearms. The peeler has a horizontal blade orientation, which is a little weird and does take some time to get used to, but other than that no complaints. I would recommend purchase!

Kyocera CP-20 RD Perfect Peeler, Red Review

(More customer reviews)We've had one of these peelers for over a year, and it's the best peeler we've ever owned.
EXCEPT...
The two little black plastic pins that hold the blade into the handle are the Achilles heel of this product. One is smaller than the other and it recently broke. I've heard this same problem from other owners of this product.
I'm waiting for a response from Kyocera as to whether this is covered under their 5 year warranty. But frankly, something like this shouldn't be happening, and it's a serious design flaw on an otherwise outstanding product.

Update to the previous review. I finally (things were kind of busy for them the Monday after Thanksgiving!) got a call back from Kyocera, they took my name and address, and immediately sent me a replacement for the broken part. The replacement arrived today, UPS 2 day delivery! I was very impressed with the speed and responsiveness of their customer service. It definitely makes a difference in whether I deal with a company in the future.
Based on this, I'd like to change my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars, but it doesn't seem to want to let me do that.
