(More customer reviews)This is the best peeler ever. It's small enough it fits in your hand easily, and that makes it very easy to peel things very quickly. If you hand wash and dry it, you'll have no problems with rust.
I use mine to peel 100+ apples a week, and have been for at least six months, and it still easily peels more delicate things, such as very ripe peaches, but then it will also peel much more difficult things like cheese pumpkins. No joke. this thing can take your toughest squashes, or your ripest peaches with no problem.

I prefer the Rotato because the wiring tends to get misplaced in my gadget loving household. Here's the deal... if you (and/or your family) loves potatoes (fried, diced, mashed... you get the idea), then you really must have a terrific potato peeler. And quite frankly, there is none finer. The hand cranked variety of the Rotato will last you through thousands of potatoes; and you will look like a whiz kid. This is a great thing to give for xmas-- a sort of generic xmas present that will be loved long after this xmas is over. Also, it comes with extra blades (because they do wear out) that you can locate in its base. I bought an extra set (at a very reasonable price) because I have broken a few of the blades along the way.

(More customer reviews)But usable. It's different in the fact that it's very small and as an American I am pretty much accustomed to the peelers that are turned to the side. This one zips right down the vegetable so you better be really careful with the edges of your palms. It's smaller than it appears and it's plastic, kind've hard to get a good grip on it but like I said, it's different. Doesn't mean it's bad. Hopefully it will last a while. :)

(More customer reviews)I agree with the previous poster. I had my original Kuhn peeler for over 10 years. Despite it rusting in a few spots, the blade remained extremely sharp. The only reason I had to buy another was because this past Thanksgiving, I had relatives over and someone accidentally threw mine away while they were helping cleaning up the kitchen. I didn't notice it was gone until days later when I couldn't find it and the garbage man had already gone by.
I decided to give this one a try and found that although the blade appears to be sharp to the touch, it didnot peel like the original peeler. I had to make several passes over the same areas to peel and even then it didn't peel as well as I have liked. I haven't tried it on carrots or kiwis but definately don't plan on using once I get my new "original" style peeler I'll be ordering here instead. I'd like to order the stainless steel one but I'm reluctant now.

(More customer reviews)I do love this peeler...it really does save a boat load of time. It takes me less than 10 minutes total to peel 5 pounds of potatoes. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is I wish it would peel closer to the top and the bottom of the potato, which would allow you to just trim the top and bottom, as opposed to having to manually peel them after they have gone through the rotato express.

(More customer reviews)This product is good enough for home use or casual use. But, I find this product to be more work that is should be. I'm always cautious about using this one because, it's unpredictable. The edges are so sharp and it's kinda scary to slip and have it glide onto your hand. I bought another julienne peeler at my local "asian" marketplace made in japan and cost around 3 buck and kinda out preforms this one. The only catch is, is that, it make smaller julienne cuts that this one. The difference is that, the 3 dollar peeler has serrated blade which makes it more easier to glide to peel. Good enough but, take extreme care in using it.

(More customer reviews)I gave the rotato two stars because it generally does a good job peeling a potato but is on the dangerous side. Yes it saves time, but if you need to take one of the blades off to be replaced because it's clogged up you could easily hurt yourself. I got cut three times. In addition I put a potato on the rotato today and the blade popped out while I was doing this and ripped part of my fingernail off. The blades don't stay sharp for very long either. If anybody buys this make sure your kids stay away from it or only use it with close parental supervision.

Rotato Express with Extra Set of 4 Blades Review

(More customer reviews)I was very satisfied with this product, even thought the potato peel was thick, it still saved me some time during cooking. After two months of use it stopped performing good. It will not rotate the potato and gets stuck. I contacted the seller but the 30 days warranty was over and was instructed to call "Starfrit" (the makers). They also were not able to help because of the 30 day warranty being over and threw the ball to the seller. At the end I could not get it replaced or repaired. Since I had no hopes of getting it replaced or repaired I decided to open it and see if I could find what was preventing it from rotating. Everything seemed to be in good condition until I disassembled the long side were the arm that holds the blade goes, it looks like a long screw and is made of a very low quality plastic and it had some broken spots, this is were the arm that holds the blade gets stuck. I never let it fall. I was not lucky with it, maybe I got a deffective model or one that had been stored for a long time making the plastic brittle. I'm giving it two stars because I still think that if it was made with better quality material this would be a nice gadget to have. By the way I bought two, one for me and one for my mom who has arthritis but hers also broke after a couple of uses. Too bad it did not broke during that 30 days warranty. I think their warranty period is poor, very rarely an appliance breaks during the first month of use, unless you use it everyday.

(More customer reviews)I bought a peeler so I can peel thin slices of apple for beauty mask purposes.
I was too lazy to take the subway for 10 minutes to target so I bought it online instead. Worst mistake ever. When it came (pretty fast shipping), the first thing I noticed was a piece of tape on the knife part of the peeler. Pretty good for safety purposes...but when I tried to take it off, it was impossible! ... I thought it would be one of those pieces of tape where you rip and the entire thing would just come off. I had to tear it off piece by piece. That was okay...
When I started to peel the apple, I realized that if I didn't use more strength...the peeler just slides over the apple and doesn't peel anything. When it finally starts peeling...the apple came off in CHUNKS. If it comes in chunks, I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE JUST USED A KNIFE.
Worthless crap piece of peeler. Don't ever get it.
