(More customer reviews)But for slicing, it definitely doesn't. I have tried it several times, and each time the garlic gets crushed instead of sliced. The problem is that the holder is so hard to move back and forth, so it ends up smashing the garlic.
Not worth it.

This simple device slices on one side and shreds on the other. Put the clove of garlic into the holder and slide it over the blades. Perfect results every time. Also works great with ginger and other vegetables. 9" long

(More customer reviews)I do love this peeler...it really does save a boat load of time. It takes me less than 10 minutes total to peel 5 pounds of potatoes. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is I wish it would peel closer to the top and the bottom of the potato, which would allow you to just trim the top and bottom, as opposed to having to manually peel them after they have gone through the rotato express.
