(More customer reviews)Better than Circulon classic. Love the non-stick and the bigger size. My old one is a Circulon classic and the non-stick worn out after 5-6 years.
Note: After almost 3 years, this wok still ROCKS! I have owned other Circulon but the non-stick wore out after 3-5 years. I think the reason is 1) I seldom use oil when cooking, 2) I boil water using the saucepan, 3) I use canola oil. I have read somewhere - Do not use canola oil on Circulon's non-stick. You can search the term "canola oil" and "Circulon" on the web. I am not sure if the canola oil is truly a culprit.
For the wok, I always use oil for stir fry so it's still great.
Also, I just discovered (too late!) "Bar Keeper's Friend." This little white powdery thing can clean up the "rainbow" stain on the stainless steel wok cover like magic! For $1.99, it solves a problem beautifully.
NOTE: DO NOT USE BAR KEEPER'S FRIEND ON THE NON-STICK SURFACE!! It's only for the stainless steel wok cover.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8-Quart Pot with Glass Lid and 2 Inserts Review

(More customer reviews)After stocking up on Calphalon cookware through Amazon, I almost purchased this item after reading the official Amazon review. Fortunately, I examined one while browsing a local store, and saw that only the bottom was aluminum core, not the sides, and the bottom was impact-bonded with a seam. Examine the Amazon close-up picture and you also can easily see the seam at the bottom.
The box I looked at clearly stated this as well. The multi-pot that I examined was definitely Calphalon Contemporary Stainless, not the less expensive Simply Calphalon series. This is not the 8-quart stockpot, which is much more expensive, and does not come with any inserts.
I am purchasing the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless 8-quart stockpot instead, and finding an after-market stainless steel steamer insert. The inserts for this pan and the Simply Calphalon Stainless 8-quart multi-pot do not fit the Tri-Ply. The two pasta inserts that Calphalon offers for sale alone are for the professional and contemporary stainless stockpots only, and also do not fit the Tri-Ply.
The official Amazon review needs to be revised.

Calphalon Fine 2 Way Grater Review

(More customer reviews)I really should have gotten the Microplan version, as I like to zest a lot. But I wanted to take advantage of a 4 for 3 promo and this was eligible. It's an OK grater...we use it for cheeses and zesting but I've used a Microplane too and it's definitely a step down from that. The handle is nice and comfortable. It has no storage sleeve, which I'd like. And I prefer Microplane's flat surface to this rounded one - all of my cheeses end up dome-shaped on the ends. Bottom line, this one isn't terrible but for a few buck more, I say, go with the Microplane. I'm about to do so myself!

Simply Calphalon Stainless Multipot Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this set to replace another pot of similar size. I figured that this would be a great deal - it's got inserts and it's from Calphalon at a great price too. The tempered glass cover fits well and is helpful because you can see inside without removing the cover although it spits when the pot is at a full and rapid boil. It's a stainless steel piece so it's not dark when you look inside like many other Calphalon pieces. The aluminum bottom is not the same as on their commercial or professional lines. It's a heavy-duty aluminum bottom attached to a stainless steel pot. Even though the pot along with the bottom is thicker and heavier than most other lines that do the same, it did not heat up like other Calphalon pieces that I own. Still, I cooked a stew at a slow simmer for six hours and it didn't burn at the bottom. A good thing.
This is the first time that I have inserts like these and I don't think much of the big insert. To cook pasta or food, you need to add an additional 2 quarts of water (the amount needed to touch the bottom of the insert) making it more time consuming to use. I will cook my pasta without the insert and may use the insert as a colander/drainer. The small insert is useful because you can steam items while boiling pasta or other items
All in all, a good pot not a great one at a great price.

I purchased the insert after continuing to read that steamed vegetables retained more of their vitamins and minerals. I did not want to go the bamboo steamer route, as I was afraid the wood could harbor bacteria. This product is now a must have in my kitchen. I have summarized my observations of this product below:
Pros:
1.Allows me to retrain more vitamins and minerals in the vegetables I feed my family
2.Easy to clean
3.Fits well in four or five of my Calphalon pots
4.Easy to store since it does fit inside other pots
5.Handles stay cool
6.Glass on lid is extremely thick
7.Glass lid fits snuggly which keeps steam from escaping
8.Large enough to steam a pound of haricot vert at one time
9.Excellent for making dim sum (steamed dumplings)
10.Reheats chicken breasts without drying them out
11.Can be used to refresh slightly stale bread
Cons:
1.Price
Overall I highly recommend this product to anyone that owns Calphalon or Calphalon One products.

Calphalon Nylon Potato Masher Review

(More customer reviews)I have a girlfriend but when I'm in the kitchen, Calphalon is my paramour.
Which is why this masher saddens me. The other reviewers have it right, smooth design, sturdy construction, gets into tight spaces, and a strong tactile response. But those are things I look for in a hammer, not a potato masher.
The mashing end is HIGHLY inefficient: holes are too small, plastic supersedes the space available for pressing food through. And so much is stuck in those holes and on the underside of the masher once you're through. A plain wire masher won't scratch your nonstick pans (assuming you're acquainted with finesse), isn't a tenth as wasteful, and is MUCH more efficient.
Bottom Line:
I strongly suggest getting something else to fulfill your mashing needs.

Good Cook Classic Peeler Review

(More customer reviews)I bought a peeler so I can peel thin slices of apple for beauty mask purposes.
I was too lazy to take the subway for 10 minutes to target so I bought it online instead. Worst mistake ever. When it came (pretty fast shipping), the first thing I noticed was a piece of tape on the knife part of the peeler. Pretty good for safety purposes...but when I tried to take it off, it was impossible! ... I thought it would be one of those pieces of tape where you rip and the entire thing would just come off. I had to tear it off piece by piece. That was okay...
When I started to peel the apple, I realized that if I didn't use more strength...the peeler just slides over the apple and doesn't peel anything. When it finally starts peeling...the apple came off in CHUNKS. If it comes in chunks, I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE JUST USED A KNIFE.
Worthless crap piece of peeler. Don't ever get it.

I just used it and I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how easilly it peels. The blade is long and freely rotates. I'm no engineer, but I think the shape really helps. I paid about the same amount for my last peeler, but it got the peel stuck in it constantly because it peeled so thick. This peeling is refreshing to use. The peels are very thin and it works very quickly. This is probably the last peeler I'll ever own.
