Rosle Large Melon/Potato Baller Review

Rosle products are quite pricey, but in my opinion worth the money. You'll have them forever. This melon baller is perfect. Nicely weighted in the hand, handy hook for hanging, no visible seams, no plastic to fall off, no rust-able parts. Very high quality. Recommended.

Rösle 12782 Garlic Press Review

Rösle 12782 Garlic Press
Average Reviews:

There's no doubt that the Rosle is extremely good--in fact, I would have given it five stars just a few weeks ago. But then I purchased the Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press (#2315), after reading a recent review of it in Cook's Illustrated. After repeatedly comparing the two side-by-side, the Kuhn is unquestionably the better press. It's also about $8 cheaper here on Amazon, but that's just a bonus--I didn't consider price for this review.
What's strange is that the crushing mechanisms appear to be identical. In fact, prior to crushing with the Kuhn, I felt disappointed when I received it, convinced that I had just bought the same garlic press twice. However, for whatever reason (and it remains a mystery to me), the Kuhn's crushing of garlic is clearly superior in two ways: 1) It produces a more beautifully consistent mince of the garlic, whereas the result from the Rosle seems more "smashed" by comparison. The difference isn't subtle--I was honestly shocked by it. 2) The pressing is more complete, with less left behind in the hopper, and it presses unpeeled garlic better, as well. (That said, I get a much better press from either unit with peeled cloves.)
Ergonomically, the shape of the Kuhn also handles better, although I never had a problem with the Rosle. And I'd say both units have stainless steel construction of equally high quality. For me, it was the crushing performance and not the handling that has sadly relegated my Rosle to the drawer, since I now always reach first for the Kuhn.

Rosle Peeler Review

Rosle Peeler

A great peeler; I don't know how the other reviewer doesn't like it. Note that it has a fixed head so you have to hold it at the right angle to peel, but when you do, it works perfectly. I used to use a knife to peel everything except carrots, but now use this as it's quick and easy. Can peel an apple in one piece, as with a knife, which I could never do with a swivel peeler. Very sharp blade. I use this all the time & love it.

Rosle Zester Review

Rosle Zester
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought one Rosle zester and one WMF julienne slicer for comparison because we would like to know whether we should invest in Rosle or WMF collection for our home. So this initial purchase was a test.
Rosle zester we got is made in Germany and has a better quality and fine finish. The steel is slightly heavier. It is sharp and creates beautiful zest perfect for garnish.
The made-in-China WMF julienne slicer works well, however, the finish and steel quality is inferior to that of Rosle, making it look cheap. With a price tag of 17 USD, we expected the WMF slicer to be German-made and to be of at least the same quality as that of Rosle.
From this experience, we decide that we better invest in Rosle tools than WMF.

Rosle Fruit Corer Review

Rosle Fruit Corer
Average Reviews:

This fruit corer is sturdy and gets the job done. One push, and whoosh...the apple is cored. You can partially core also, it's sharp enough that you don't have to use a lot of force, so you can leave a 1/2 inch at the bottom to hold in your filling if you are making baked apples.
As always with Rosle, the corer has a hanging hook and feels solid.

Rösle 12780 Potato Masher Review

Rösle 12780 Potato Masher
Average Reviews:

After having several other potato mashers fall apart on me during the most inconvienient situations (i.e., while mashing avocados for guacamole), and nearly being impaled in the process, I bought a Rosle. The difference is phenomenal. Rosle's products combine great ergonomic engineering with high-quality stainless construction, and the masher is no exception. Its design allows the cook to combine just the right amount of force more precisely, resulting in effortless and lump-free mashing (no more problems with cranky avocados), and it cleans up easily. I've had mine for over a month, and suspect it will be the last potato masher I'll ever buy -- unless, of course, I need an additional Rosle.

Rosle Left-Handed Swivel Peeler Review

I love this peeler. It's the best I've ever used and will never use anything else again. Well worth the price. One word of warning to those shopping on-line; the left and right handed peelers are designed to peel toward the body. If you are more apt to peel away from your body, get the peeler labeled for the opposite hand. I use a right-handed peeler with my left hand, and I love it.

Rösle 12735 Crosswise Swivel Peeler Review

I first used this peeler at a Viking Culinary cooking class and it knocked my socks off! I've always hated to peel veggies and am the lazy type who leaves the skin on for mashed potatoes.
Anyway, this peeler literally peels vegetables like it's cutting butter. It's almost effortless and takes less than half the time to peel when compared to traditional peelers. It actually makes peeling FUN!
The price is a little steep (Amazon has the best price anywhere), but it's definitely a worthwhile investment. Happy Peeling!

I absolutely love this peeler. It is sturdy and well-constructed with a guard to protect against accidental cuts when used by children. I was brought up to peel away from myself (downward) as a safety precaution. I first bought the right-handed version of this peeler and found that I could only peel in this direction by holding the peeler in my left hand, which was quite awkward. But I loved it so much I went back and bought the left-handed version which works fine for this right-handed Mom.
