(More customer reviews)I have been searching for a mix for vegetarian gravy with a beef type flavor. This is the best I have found. The mock chicken version by Hain is not to my liking so if you have tried that one don't let it prevent you from enjoying the brown gravy mix. Whole Foods used to carry in bulk mix for chicken broth/gravy that was very good but seems to have discontinued it. The only vegetarian gravy better than this brown gravy mix comes with a tofurkey that is mushroom gravy that is prepared and frozen. This is simple and handy and relatively inexpensive and as tasty as any meat based gravy mix.

(More customer reviews)Although this noodle is the "default" according to my Korean friend, I believe it is the best spicy noodle on the market. It is VERY spicy for those that are not accustomed to spicy food. If you have not tried this noodle before, I'd recommend using only half the chili powder packet. Then adjust as necessary for later meals. I've been eating this noodle for years and years. The recipe that I normally use is:
1 egg
Chinese green onions (chopped)
lemon juice
sesame oil
Bring water to a boil with the noodle in a pot. Then pour out the water and run cold water over the noodle. This cleans the noodles of the materials left over from the manufacturing process. Set noodle aside. Then bring filtered water to a boil with both ingredient packets. It takes several minutes for the dried vegetables to hydrate. Put noodles back in. Add 3-4 drops of lemon juice and 1-2 drops of sesame oil. Add the green onions. Stir. Break the egg over the top of the noodles. Make sure your hands are dry to avoid steam burns! Wait until the egg white turns from translucent to white. Serve over large bowl. Break the egg and allow the yolk to run over the noodles. YUM!

Alu palak (or aloo palak, meaning potato with spinach) is a very traditional Indian dish, also very often served with thali meals. Thalis meals are served on separate dinner plates to each guest with small bowls on each plate holding the various tasty choices. This Tasty Bite Aloo Palak is wonderful for adding another easy serve choice to your own 'thali' creation or as an additional item for an Indian or Asian-themed meal. Alu palak is great spooned over basmati rice or with Indian breads [or vegan whole wheat tortillas.] Can also be used as a base for a more elaborate mix of your favorite vegetables and/or beans. Tofu cubes are another delightful addition. I have also used it to make a delicious(!) spinach soup by adding Asian buckwheat noodles. Nicely spiced and not spicy by Indian standards. The spinach is a puree, partly a wonderful spinach gravy, accompanied by small diced potato cubes. A great choice for those who like or enjoy creating with spinach dishes. Made with spinach [palak], potatoes [aloo or alu], tomatoes, onions, water, sunflower oil, salt, cornstarch, ginger, garlic, sugar, chilies, turmeric, and spices. 200 calories and 6g protein per pouch. First of all, these are even bigger than the Super Links (20 oz. versus 19 oz. per pack of 12). Second, these have better texture (doesn't crumble; resembles more like meat). Third, these taste better. Combine with Worthington Chili to make some great vegetarian chili dogs. Dice them up to use in casseroles. Cut into chunks and use with pasta (as "meatballs"). Or just nuke them and eat with ketchup. No matter how you eat these, you'll love 'em.

Having a number of health challenges, including fibromyalgia, I decided to give the asparagus regimen a try -- and am I ever glad I did! It has helped in so many ways, and if I happen to forget and miss a day, I can tell right away the next day in the amount and location of increased pain. I put the whole can in a blender, plus a tablespoon of minced garlic for added flavor, and puree. With four tablespoons taken twice daily, the benefits are noticeable within a few days. When you sign up for the subscription service with Amazon, this product is delivered to your door for free, and at the best price I've been able to find anywhere.
I highly recommend this regimen as a dietary supplement. As I am not a doctor, I have included an excerpt from someone who is: As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer, and all of the proposed cures. As a result, I am convinced that asparagus fits in better with the latest theories about cancer. Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth. For that reason, I believe asparagus can be said to contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer. That accounts for its action on cancer and in acting as a general body tonic. In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a harmless substance.

(More customer reviews)The chips are very delicious. They of course has a hint of vegetable taste, and that is because obviously they are made of vegetables. We are on the gluten free diet and specific carbohydrate diet, so the only thing that is "bad" is the potato and potato starch ingredients, but that is only a very little amount and I am just happy to find a snack that is gluten free and low in carbs. Much, much better than potato chips.
I give this a 4 instead of a 5 because the labelling does not clearly indicate if there could be any gluten contamination, if good manufacturing processes are used to seggregate ingredients. My son has recovered from autism and he has to be on a strict gluten free diet, so this kind of information would be very important to us.
Overall, I highly recommend this product. This is a much better alternative to snacking than potato or corn chips.

(More customer reviews)First of all, don't be put off by the price. If you've kept track of grocery store receipts lately or the sharp increase in basic foods over the last year, you may see how this product could save you time, gas and MONEY.
At the time of this writing, it cost about $16.88 for four packages of this mix. EACH package easily serves 8-16 people with soup left over.
While the instructions note to add 4 cups of water or a water and broth combo, we quickly discovered we had to double or even triple the liquid added. No problem there, because we had more soup!
If you don't have fresh veggies or spices around, this will suffice as is and it is thick and satisfying. If you garden, you'll improve the taste by adding fresh chopped parsley, garlic and whatever veggies you want. A can of tomatoes (or fresh, chopped ones) does no harm. This is a mix you can play with, add ingredients and spices.
IMPORTANT: this is not a salted mix. It is full of split peas, barley, lentils, whole wheat pasta, dehydrated spinach, tomato, onion, etc. If you don't use salt, consider adding a salt substitute. I also added basil. It was delightful, quick and is now a pantry staple.
Nutrition: 330 calories (1/2 cup) only 20 calories from fat. Significant source of iron at 22% of the Daily Value. Protein: 20 grams. Fiber - 8 grams. Add some bread and you have a meal, rounded out with some greens, perhaps.

(More customer reviews)I have been searching for a TVP product for a while now and when I saw Bob's Red Mill TVP on the net I looked for it at Amazon and there it was. I hadn't used it in years, so it was a new learning experience and I got an acceptable burger on my first try, but not quite what I was looking for. With a lot more research on the net I discovered that a mixture of TVP and Vital Wheat Gluten, also from Bob's Red Mill and available at Amazon, will give you a much meatier burger. There are several websites that can help you, one is Vegan Dad, which can give you a recipe that will help you find a better burger that isn't so mushy as TVP can be, also check out Thrifty Living. If you are trying TVP for the first time, don't give up on it. Go out to You Tube and type in TVP burger recipes and see what you can find. Also check out Everyday Dish on You Tube. It is a learning experience for sure.
