Heirloom Red and Yellow Mini Pear Heirloom Tomato Seeds 40 Seeds Review

Heirloom Red and Yellow Mini Pear Heirloom Tomato Seeds 40 Seeds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These were very easy to grow. I only planted half the seeds, but each one sprouted! I started them out in little Jiffy system plastic greenhouse in peat pellets and, following the seed packet directions, replanted them into deeper pots when they were a couple of inches tall, burying them up to the leaves. That was only last week and they've grown an inch or two and look very healthy with good leaves. The red tomato seeds are dyed red, so you can tell them from the yellow tomato seeds. These will get quite tall - over six feet if you let them - but the vines are not too heavy, so plan on some type of light support. I'll put these in the garden, but I imagine a large planter would also work. To me, these have a sweeter, deeper tomato flavor than the usual cherry & grape tomato varieties. Well worth your effort.

10" Fabric Pond-Pot Review

These pots are very sturdy. I use the 15 gallon size to grow potatoes in. The 10" pot is great for herbs. They are lightweight and very simple to use. They look attractive in my yard. My yard is slightly sloped but these adapt to the slope where a hard container would not. When I'm finished using them they fold up and store away very easily. The plants roots are aerated and this pot has good drainage. They are a great value as well. [...]Gardener's supply sells the 15 gallon size under the name "potato bin". I personally could care less if the seam is white. It's not that noticeable IMHO.

Green Light 15008 Tomato Bloom - 8 oz Spray Review

Green Light 15008 Tomato Bloom - 8 oz Spray

I am a container gardener. My apartment patio has north facing light. This is my second year container gardening. Last year most of my tomatoes did not produce at all. This year I was desperate to enjoy "the fruits of my labor." About a month ago, I stumbled across this Green Light Organic Tomato Bloom Spray at my local Fred Meyer. I was really sceptical at first but I was desperate so decided to buy it and return it if it didn't work. I applied the product as instructed on the bottle and by the next morning my tomato blossoms had fruited! I waited a couple weeks and sprayed the new blossoms and the next morning, once again, the blossoms that I had sprayed the night before had fruited. I now have over 40 Roma's growing in one pot where as at this time last year I had tons of blossoms but none of my romas ever produced a single fruit. This product works.

Red Mulch 4'x 30' Review

Red Mulch 4'x 30'
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This plastic mulch was adequate for the job I needed. I don't expect it to last more than one season. The plastic is too thin. But the red color DOES make a difference. Our tomato and eggplant harvests were exceptional this year. The color helps primarily with reflecting the red color spectrum better than black alone. Cost-effectiveness is debatable. The material's weakness is the non-porous plastic. The best fo both worlds would be to have red-colored landscape fabric (like the one currently available only in brown). As-is it makes a decent weedblock. But getting water to the roots can only be accomplished by pouring water directly to the roots or by poking holes in the film , thereby ruining it for next year.

Just love these fabric pots! You can roll down the sides to get the height that you want. I turned mine inside out so that the white stitching on one side seam and the bottom wouldn't show, although now I realize that algae and other dirt would cover the white stitching on the seams anyway.... These are very nice; they don't leak soil, but of course water is able to flow in and out. They don't float, either.

The slicer is extremely light and the quality of the cutting strips is poor. One of the cutting strips broke on first use and some of the others started to bend after a few uses. It is not a solid, strong slicer. The price did not justify returning it but I am not using it anymore and will look for a different tomato slicer.

Fourth of July Tomato 4 Plants - Ripens in 44 days Review

Fourth of July Tomato 4 Plants - Ripens in 44 days
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I always grew these from seed and had great success. These are a staple in my tomato garden. Since I stopped growing from seed, I couldn't find these at any nurseries so I had to start ordering the plants online.
I purchased 4th of July from Hirt's Garden the past 2 years and both times the plants arrived with black spots on their leaves. No way was I putting them in and spreading whatever they had to my other plants. The first year I thought was just a fluke, but after last year, no more. I was able to order from Burpee this year instead, and from now on. I will just order them earlier when they have them in stock

TOMATO: Tomatoes are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and the seeds are high in fiber. The green parts are mildly poisonous, which is not surprising, as tomatoes are closely related to both nightshade and tobacco. The tomato was originally believed to be poisonous when introduced into Europe, and was used solely as an ornamental plant during the 16th and 17th centuries. The first traces of its use as a food date back to the first half of the 18th century. Tomatoes are now a tasty ingredient in many dishes, and are used fresh, canned, stewed or even sun-dried.
54 days. It's amazing! The first tomato to ripen by Independence Day! With 'Fourth of July' you can have garden-fresh tomatoes weeks before you ever thought possible. Each plant will be loaded with bunches of deliciously flavorful 4 ounce fruits that bear early and continuously all summer long.

Suncast Tomato and Vegetable Tower 44.5" Review

Suncast Tomato and Vegetable Tower 44.5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I picked up my Suncast Tomato Tower garden station at the local Ace and like it so much I may buy a second one.
Putting the unit together is literally a toolless snap that can be done without consulting the directions.
Step one of the directions advise placing the base in a permament location and then filling it with dirt or sand to stabilize it. I opted to skip this unnecessary step allowing me to do the assembly near my deck. If one opts to, the bottom reservoir can be filled later. The handy cavity can be filled with dirt and covered with the snap on lid or can be filled with garden tools, again protected by the snap on lid.
If one chooses not to take advantage of the upside down planting option, the base can be used for additional planting.
I'm using my unit to grow only one upside down tomato, an adventure I've never tried. On the top of the unit I have beans growing and cascading over the sides. The upper planter is perfect for vines and any type of cascading plant. Peas would be great as well as any flowering vines.
This is a cleverly designed unit that Mrs. Spudman and I are totally enjoying. Though the unit is not unattractive, I'm thinking about spray painting the second unit's exterior with one of those "plastic" spray paints. This handy, mobile, reusable unit gets two thumbs up from me.

GOURD: Plant gourds if for no other reason than because they're fun! They come in a delightful, wacky array of shapes, colors, and sizes and are sure to bring a smile when you harvest them. Many will grow up fences and trellises, which makes them even more interesting and dramatic.
Cannonball Gourd: Easy to craft. The Cannonball Gourd is perfectly round, ranging in size from 4" to 6" in width. As shown on the front of the packet, many techniques may be used: plain, varnished, staned, or painted. Create your won beautiful, decorative collection.
Garden Tip: For best germination nick the seed and do not plant in wet, cold soil. To harvest, cut gourds from the vine about 1" above the fruit.
Drying Tip: Pick gourds when entire vine is dry and brown. After harvesting, gourds should be cleaned with soap and water, dried, and rubbing alcohol applied to the surface. Handle gently and turn weekly as gourds dry in a warm, airy place. Do not cut or decorate until completely dry and seeds rattle.
