Nordic Ware Grilling Essentials 8 Inch Grill Saute Pan, Non Stick Review

My old saute pan had lost its non-stick properties and needed to be replaced so I ordered this. It was nice to have non-stick again but the info said nothing about the dishwasher so I don't know whether to put it in. I'm new to dishwashers so I don't what can go in and what can't.

Biggest Loser AG-1300-BL 2-in-1 Double-Up Grill and Panini Press Review

Biggest Loser AG-1300-BL 2-in-1 Double-Up Grill and Panini Press
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Recently purchased this grill to replace 2 George Foreman's that got very little use. The Biggest Loser is terrific! Not quite the same specs as advertised: The wattage is 1400w, not 1800w. The size is actually about 12"x12" with handle included in the measurement, the grill plates are about 9"x"9", the height (without handle) is 4" and the weight is about 5 lbs. All this makes for a smaller footprint on the counter and I like that. Another nice feature is the long drip tray that slides in on integrated glides so it can't slip out or be knocked out of place. The tray catches drips from both plates when the grill is in the open (flat) position. Great design.
Before the first use: Be sure to damp wipe the grill then heat for 15-20 minutes. This burns off any residual manufacturing oil--these oils give off smoke and an odor.
The machine is ready to grill on in just over two minutes (ready light comes on). This is because the heating coils are integrated in the grill plate and therefore heat far more quickly and evenly than removable plates. The nonstick surface is excellent. Just remember to treat it like seasoned cast iron. Grease ONLY with cooking oil--DO NOT USE pan sprays that contain a chemical which actually makes nonstick surfaces bubble and peel off.
When finished cooking, soak a few paper towels and lay them on the surface till the grill is cool and you're ready to clean up. I then put the grill in a DRY sink, run water BESIDE it, not on it, scrub with a dishwashing brush, rinse the brush, scrub again to remove any remaining food particles, then dry with a paper towel. The top is made of brushed stainless and is very easy to wipe clean.
So far I've grilled meat, chicken, paninis, stuffed tortillas, French toast and vegetables. Everything has been top notch. I would give this grill 6 stars if I could. BUY IT!! You'll love it.

Equipped with 1800 watts of power, this easy-to-use countertop appliance allows for healthy indoor grilling all year long. Cook up delicious hot Panini sandwiches or grill anything from burgers and steaks to poultry or pork chops. For best results when making sandwiches, use thick, crusty breads such as Italian, French, or focaccia. The grill features heavy-duty non-stick grill plates to ensure effortless food release, plus a floating hinge that automatically adjusts to accommodate various levels of thickness. And at the push of a button, it converts to an open grill for vegetables and delicate foods like fish. Other highlights include a "power on" indicator light, a slide-out drip tray to capture fat and grease, adjustable tilt-up feet to maximize the draining of unwanted fat, and a rubber-grip handle for comfort and safety. Recipes come included. The UL-listed grill and Panini press measures approximately 14 by 14 by 7 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

This is no bargain to purchase on Amazon.
Buy something similar at your local supermarket/check infomercials/etc.
Also...it is not 10 sheets - it arrived as 6 sheets, and they are not re-usable, unless you don't care about bacteria, health and other food related issues. This is truly the first time I felt misled by Amazon - but summer is too short for me to return and deal with all that annoyance.
Too much money...for too little product! Buyer Beware!

The surface is truly non-stick and that is impressive considering I use it on the grill. It is very nice to cook something like onions or shrimp on the grill and not have them fall thru the grates. The removable handle is great as I have a small grill and could not cover a pan with a handle. I highly recommend this.

Swissmar KF-77081 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite Stone Review

Swissmar KF-77081 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite Stone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have a Raclette Grill that has the granite stone top, and it is a lot easier to clean and more elegant for parties. Note: if you are vegetarian though not vegan, you can grill your cheese below and use Boca type veggie sausages, marinated tofu and vegetables on top for a very decent, meatless raclette. The stone lets you grill any of these items. After it cools, clean-up is quite simple. If you are serious about this, and want a party, the 8-person oblong set plus stone is a wonderful way to do this.
You need a pretty decent extension cord if your table is not near a counter-height outlet, as the cord isn't so long. The extension cord should be able to handle the voltage requirements as this element draws a lot of power as it heats up. The shape is rectangular, so this doesn't work so well for oval or round tables; there are raclettes that are shaped for round tables but they don't come with granite tops.

There are grills with teflon tops, but granite is more elegant, healthier (I think) and makes a beautiful party table along with the little divided dishes (raclette or fondue plates.) I discovered that it was inconvenient and cluttered to have so many custard cups of sauces (Bernaise, remoulade, etc) for the grilled items, so you may want to pick up a set of these if you get into raclette parties.
To serve raclette, get some good cheeses that melt well (fontina, butterkaese, raclette cheese if you can find it), some sausages, possibly shrimp and scallops, some cold meats (dried beef is a Swiss tradition but salami works well) and a selection of vegetables like sliced cherry tomatoes, sliced bell peppers, onions. Small whole boiled potatoes and cornichon gerkins are traditional. And you need a variety of sauces such as bearnaise, hollandaise, mustard sauce or any sauces you like with veggies and meats. Even ranch dressing works. Prepare a serving tray so each diner can select cheese, veg or meat and begin grilling. The cheese goes in the small tray under the element and the grill handles the fish, veg and meat.

Zojirushi EB-CC15 Indoor Electric Grill Review

Zojirushi EB-CC15 Indoor Electric Grill
Average Reviews:

Pros:
- non-stick surface makes it extremely easy to clean. Charred food debris just slides off the surface.
- base of the unit is made of plastic and acts as an insulator so there is no need to put anything under it to protect your tabletop.
- safety mechanism built in so that grill cannot be operated without drip pan.
- takes only 10 minutes to heat up fully.
- grill is a heavy cast iron so holds heat well. I have seen other similar grills by companies like Sanyo and only Zojurushi uses a heavy cast iron grill.
- heats very well. Grills meat very fast.
- no smoke generated- not sure why, but there just isn't any.
Cons:
- none so far.
Notes:
- if you want to grill vegetables, I'd recommend coating them with some oil before putting them on the grill, otherwise the veges tend to get dry.
- power cable is short, so make sure you have an extension cable handy.

Weber 396002 Q 200 Portable Gas Grill Review

Weber 396002 Q 200 Portable Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am writing this long term review because as so many reviews are just initial impressions when the product is new. They are hard to find, but some people will write a review later in the product's life cycle, especially if they have had problems. This is not one of those "problem" reviews. The Weber Q is my all time favorite grill.
Background Info:
I bought my "Q" back in 2004 when they first came out; there were only two models at the time, the Q and the Baby Q. The overall design theory and execution of a portable gas grill was amazing in my eyes - like nothing I had ever seen before. I was in the market for a gas grill, and the portable nature yet still nice enough to grill on a daily basis design sold me instantly. I had used my dad's Weber gas grill since he bought it new in the mid 90's (comparable to today's Genesis models) and was impressed in every aspect, especially the longevity and quality of the components compared to "big box store" look-a-like grills. The price for a standalone Weber, like my dad's, was too high in my opinion, and I wanted more for my money. The Q's dual nature fit the bill perfectly. In addition to the Q, I bought about every accessory available at the time: rolling cart, Weber Q specific tools, cover, hose for external LP tank, etc. Every accessory followed right in line with the Q's portable design intent. The tools are my favorite as they snap into the side tables and easily fold up inside enhancing the go-anywhere part of the design. I recently (Summer 2008) upgraded my home setup to include the stationary cart for a more finshed look at home on the back patio. Performance:
The grill holds a surprisingly large amount of food. I can grill for the whole family or more with no problems, (This totally depends on what you are grilling). I have grilled everything from the ubiquitous burgers, dogs, and brats to fajita meat and vegetables to corn on the cob and steaks. I can even fit 2-3 whole racks of ribs on the Q. Heating is surprisingly even with the rectangular shaped burner (which is stainless steel and after 4 seasons is showing zero signs of wear, corrosion, etc.). The heavy, thick cast iron grate should get most of the credit for the even heating. I really like the wide bars and tight spacing of the grate; I can grill sliced veggies and meats as if I were cooking on a skillet with no fear of them falling though. Temperature control is ultra easy with the single burner knob. I have taken the Q tailgating at sporting events, to picnics at the park, to friends' parties, etc. and it has performed flawlessly. It offers tons of cooking room for the size and minimal effort to bring along with the clever design of the grill and accessories. People are always amazed when they watch me unpack/pack the Q. Other than an occasional and end of season cleaning, this thing is maintenance free. Just brush off the grate, check the drip pan, and clean out the burned drippings in the bottom from time to time.
Final Thoughts:
Looking back at my Q experience, I wouldn't have it any other way. In fact, I can't imagine owning any other gas grill - except another Q. If the day comes when I have to replace my beloved Q, I would probably stick with the original size, the 200 series; it is the perfect balance. The 300 series looks nice with the bigger size and extra burner, but I don't necessarily need the size and I feel it loses some of the portable utility that makes the original Q so great.

Designed for outdoor grilling at home or at the lake, this portable gas grill features a 12,000-BTU stainless-steel burner for fast heating of its 280-square-inch cooking surface. The unit\'s deceivingly compact size offers ample space for grilling 10 king-size strip steaks, 10 veggie kabobs, or three chicken quarters, plus a portabello or two. The unit ignites at the push of a button for foolproof start-ups, and its infinitely adjustable burner valve with a high-quality regulator makes it possible to access just the right amount of heat needed for the job. Meat sizzles on the porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates, while drippings collect in the removable drip tray below for lower-fat cooking and easy cleanup. Other highlights include a cast-aluminum lid and body, a glass-reinforced nylon frame, a large weather-resistant lid handle, and two Tuck-Away worktables with built-in tool hooks. For added convenience, the side tables fold up, storing neatly away inside the grill when they're not being used to hold platters of food, seasonings, and sauces. The grill runs on a standard 14.1- or 16.4-ounce LP cylinder (sold separately), and a Weber Q recipe booklet comes included for ideas on what to grill next. The outdoor grill measures 24-2/7 by 51-2/5 by 26 inches with the lid open and the tables out, and it carries a five-year limited warranty.

Outset QS71 Stainless Steel Large 17" x 11" Grill Grid with Handles Review

Outset QS71 Stainless Steel Large 17 x 11 Grill Grid with Handles
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

I was skeptical when ordering this Grill Grid, because I already purchased a less expensive one a year or so ago, but this one is money well spent. It is truly heavy duty - it can be used time and again during the same grilling session without warping from the heat. Although it is stainless steel (instead the base metal Non-stick), cleanup is relatively easy, and discoloration from the heat is minimal. The grid I bought prior to this one was supposed to be Non-stick, but it just wasn't so, even with pretreating according to the instructions. The other thing the I really like about this one is the size - I am able to put several pieces of shrimp or other seafood items on it at one time without "overcrowding", yet it is small enough that it can easily moved to and from the grill with ease. This company pays alot of attention to detail in terms of fit and finish. GJM

I've used this basket once. The metal loop that holds the lid closed slipped off, and I dumped half my dinner into the grill and on the ground.
I'm looking forward to using this several times a week. I can cut food into smaller pieces and toss them into the basket to cook, allowing them to cook faster and saving fuel (and making dinner happen faster!) But first I've got to figure out how to keep the top in place.

These look cute online but they are very wide and difficult to skewer into things. The ends are dull and they look pretty cheap with metal remainders on them around most of the seams. All of that wouldn't be so bad if they did not rust the first time I washed them (I didn't even let them soak or anything strange, soap and water and drip dried in my dry rack). Do not get these, they are cheap and difficult to use. If you saw them in person, you would walk away, even at Amazons price.

I bought this grill basket for my husband for Father's Day. According to the description, it had everything we were looking for: detachable handle, separate sections for separate cooking, grilled veggies won't fall through, etc. Unfortunately, the basket is so poorly made that the baskets don't open (without a crowbar!) and the handle neither attaches or detatches without a whole lot of muscle. My husband had to get out his tools and try to rebend the whole thing to get it to function. What an over-priced dissappointment!

I requested and received this as a Christmas gift. I used it yesterday in the BBQ to hold marinated pieces of beef and lamb. They did a good job of holding the meat in place so that it would not spin when I flipped the meat. I used metal thongs to grab the handles to flip the meat, thus the fact that the handles are much too hot to handle was not a problem. The only problem occurred when I was using a fork to pull the meat off the skewers. One skewer pulled out of the handle. I pushed the skewer back into the handle.

The Outset F810 Grill Surface Thermometer is a fair product it does measure the heat of your grill but it does not adjust quickly if you move it from one location to the next... most likely because of the high heat it must take. It will let you know which part of your grill is the hottest and coldest, but again it takes a while to read the temp. I felt it was pretty accurate if left in one spot. I also used it to read my different temps for different gas settings.

Sanyo ECJ-HC100S 10-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker and Slow Cooker Review

Sanyo ECJ-HC100S 10-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker and Slow Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I come from south India, which means that I grew up eating rice every day. This also means that for me, rice is not just an important food, but a way of life. At any given time, you can expect to find five different kinds of rice in my pantry at all times (10 kg long grain white rice, 10 kg white sushi rice, 5 kg Basmati, 1 kg brown sushi, 5 kg long grain brown). I still eat rice every day, although the noodles, pasta, and bread are easy to find.
When I was young, my mother would by the typical rice cookers, where it would have a flimsy aluminium pot, a cheap electric part, and a cheap glass lid that didn't actually keep the moisture in. Measuring the water was a game of roulette, because although the rice always got cooked, variations in the moisture levels inside the cooking pot were bound to get wonky rather quickly. Furthermore, they never lasted too terribly long if you weren't extremely careful with them.
When I moved out on my own, I continued the tradition of getting the standard, cheap rice cookers. I was unwilling to spend this sort of money on a rice cooker. Until my third one fried out on me.
This model keeps rice piping hot, and tender, and fluffy, for three days. It cooks up the following rices perfectly (as in, I've tested it myself): Jasmine, White Basmati, Parboiled Basmati, Haiga-Mai, White Koshihikari, Brown Koshihikari, long grain Brown, and long grain White.
When using the slow cooker pot, I can churn out a pot of lentil soup quickly or slowly, depending on how much time I have on my hands. The tofu cycle works for the Indian dish known as idli. You end up with rather a large idli, but it's easy enough to cut up into four pieces. It makes steel cut oats in one hour flat, but makes sure that they're tender but not mushy. The minimum capacity is 2 cups, and the maximum is 10. It comes with a steaming basket to steam vegetables, however, I doubt that I'll be using it any time soon for steaming vegetables. What that basket is good for is a no-fuss Chinese dim sum steaming, without having to turn on the stove. Just set your buns down on the little steaming tray, and set your rice cooker to do the work for you. No poking around and watching the water levels for you!
The instructions are easy to follow: measure the dry rice with the provided cup, and then fill water to the line indicated on the inside of the pot, depending on the type of rice (or porridge, as needed). Also, get used to measuring the rice out exactly, because that will get you more consistent pots of rice, especially when you're working with unknown rices. There is no guesswork.
You will be cooking with less water, because the steam is contained inside the chamber, and not flying out into the air. In the last few minutes of cooking, you will notice a bit of steam being vented from the top, but that's minimal in comparison to how much steam is produced from a conventional rice cooker.
The rice pot is EXTREMELY nonstick. For easy cleanup, wait for the rice and the starch and the rest to dry out. Then wipe down the inside with your hand, and watch everything fall away like magic. Then, go ahead and wash as normal.
The plastic chassis is easy to clean with a soft cloth and a bit of water. Give it a wipe down after every use, and it'll look sparkling clean and beautiful there on your counter top.
Go buy this now if you're considering it. You won't regret it.
UPDATE: It's now January of 2011, and I bought this in September 2008. The rice cooker is still a work horse, and we've been using it if not every single day, pretty close to every single day. Pot after pot of perfect rice. Nonstick surface is still going strong.

Cook top-quality rice dishes, slow cook stews or soups, steam veggies, boil eggs, and even make tofu in this impressive micro-computerized machine. The unit includes two separate inner pots and inner lids to keep slow cooked dishes separate from rice, thereby maintaining the integrity of the rice flavor. The titanium-coated extra-thick (3mm) non-stick rice-cooking inner pot provides a round bottom for maximum heat distribution, optimum cooking, and effortless food release. To help ensure perfectly cooked rice, the 10-cup (20 cups cooked) rice cooker provides a variety of multi-menu, one-touch selections, including programs for white, brown, mixed, rinse-free, sushi, and haiga rice. Depending on the program entered, the cooker's micro-computer chip technology automatically adjusts the temperature and cooking times. Its steaming function steams veggies with a timer programmable for up to 58 minutes. The unit can also function as a slow cooker. For cooking soups or stews, program it to slow cook for up to 12 hours on either the high or low temperature setting.
Even more, the cooker comes equipped with an LCD clock and 24-hour preset timer, a keep-warm function, a retractable cord, and a carrying handle for taking cooked food right to the table.
