Nordic Ware Grilling Essentials 8 Inch Grill Saute Pan, Non Stick Review

My old saute pan had lost its non-stick properties and needed to be replaced so I ordered this. It was nice to have non-stick again but the info said nothing about the dishwasher so I don't know whether to put it in. I'm new to dishwashers so I don't what can go in and what can't.

Emeril Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Vertical Poultry Roaster Review

Emeril Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Vertical Poultry Roaster

This is a very well made pan. The surface is not as nicely finished as a Lodge product (number one in my book), it is manufactured in China. But the quality is decent and this pan will probably last forever. This in turn makes me wonder if I will regret this purchase. I've used it only once and to be truthful the "infusion" seemed to make no impact on the flavor of the chicken. Maybe I'm just at an age where most of my tastebuds are dead or perhaps I need to find some better recipes. For those who adore beer can chicken cooking this pan will probably be a big hit.
If you want to get a perfect finish on this pan rub it with a generous coat of shortening, warm it very slightly on the stovetop and then pop it into a 500 oven and turn the oven off. I always seal my cast iron just after baking homemade pizzas when the oven is super heated. Just don't put a cold pan into a hot oven. The surface will be glossy and perfect. You better have a good exhaust fan though, as the fumes are not too pleasant.

Lodge Logic Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Spiral Handle Review

Lodge Logic Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Spiral Handle

I received my eagerly-awaited Dutch oven a couple days ago and made some chili to try it out. It works great, with excellent heat retention... good for browning beef at higher temperatures, and bubbles merrily away even at low heat. Great for anything you want to simmer long and low for the best flavor.
An added bonus - the lid from this Dutch oven also fits the Logic 10-1/4" skillet if required.
To clean, I fill it with hot water, boil a bit to lift the grease, then rinse with hot water and wipe with a paper towel, using a bit of nylon mesh from an onion bag for any stubborn bits, then dry and re-oil.
A couple notes:
If you receive a Logic Dutch oven and find a couple gobs of sticky, brown, almost rust-colored stuff on the handle flange, it is likely NOT rust. Because of the shape of this pot, the pre-seasoning process sometimes leaves a bit of extra, thickened oil in this location. If this is the case, it can be easily rubbed off with a fingertip, much like rubber cement.
The pre-seasoning is very effective, but the inside of the lid, well-designed to keep moisture inside the pot, is a vulnerable spot. Depending on what you cook, the inside of the lid will likely require additional seasoning; I only oiled the cooking surfaces and the first use (no tomato, but enough water to simmer the chili) removed much of the seasoning between the self-basting points. No rust, so it was a simple matter of wiping the inside surface of the lid with peanut oil and putting it in a 450 degree (F) oven a couple times. I'd suggest doing this to the lid before use, and any time the seasoning in this location appears to be thinning. I did not lower my rating for this, as its simply the nature of the beast, not a design or manufacturing flaw.

Lodge cast-iron cookware has long been admired for its superior heat retention, but now the company offers another enticement with its Lodge Logic line. Lodge Logic cookware, such as this 5-quart Dutch oven, comes preseasoned with a proprietary vegetable oil formula and is ready for cooking right of the box--unlike traditional Lodge cookware, which needs seasoning in the oven before use. The timesaving process allows the oil to penetrate deeply into the cast-iron surface, maintaining the cookware for generations and creating an attractive heirloom finish.
This Dutch oven measures 10-1/4 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep--an ideal size for most family recipes. Whether baking casseroles, enchiladas, pasta sauce, or a compact pot roast, the pan delivers a smooth, consistent temperature without wasting heat. The pan's esteemed heat retention is especially ideal for slow-cooking recipes that prize tender meats and rich, seasoned flavors. In addition, the underside of the lid contains several self-basting tips that allow the condensed liquid to remoisten the food, keeping the contents from drying out. With proper care, Lodge Logic cast-iron cookware will last a lifetime. The company recommends hand washing the Dutch oven with a stiff brush and hot water. In addition, the pan carries a lifetime warranty.

I got tired of replacing warped grill plates, the accessory grills for cooking shrimp, scallops, and small vegies. The Lodge cast iron grill has not warped after several grillings at very high heat. And clean up is as easy as cleaning the main grill.

I cook for myself, so this little skillet is the perfect size for 3-egg omelet in the morning, or veggie saute for dinner. I am a small to medium sized female w/ skinny arms, but this skillet is not too heavy so I can still lift it w/ one arm. It's not really non-stick because the eggs won't easily slide off the pan like they would from a good new non-stick pan, but it's much much better compared w/ my stainless steel skillets. As long as you soak the pan in water after cooking, by the time you finish your meal, the food residue can be easily washed off with a brush or sponge. I use a nylon dish brush with hot water and cleaning is very fast and easy. I never use soap or steel wool. Leaving a bit grease on acts like re-seasoning. This is the same way I take care of my carbon-steel wok. The only complaint I have is that the handle is way too short. The skillet is relatively heavy but even with my small hands it still feels as if the handle only fits half of my palm, so it forces your hand to hold it really close to the hot pan - really bad design. Though I use it everyday and find it indispensable, the short handle alone is why I am unwilling to give it a five star rating.

[As Advertised]
When I first started using Fit I was extremely impressed at how well it worked for cleaning fruits & vegetables. It didn't leave behind a bad taste, there was a noticeable improvement in how clean the food looked & tasted, and the food actually stayed fresher longer.[Other Uses]
My cat is very picky when it comes to water. After washing her bowl with very mild dish soap and rinsing it thoroughly she would still detect the smell/tast of soap and would refuse to drink from it. I spent so much time rinsing her bowl out that it was ridiculous. So when I recently purchased a Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain (which is great by the way) for her, the thought of cleaning and rinsing it became a nightmare. That's when I decided to give Fit a try, and wow does it work great. I can wash it, rinse it once, and my cat will drink from it without any problems. It's also nice knowing that there aren't harmful chemicals in it that I have to worry about.
So to make a long story short, Fit works great for cleaning your pet's food & water bowls, especially for the ones that are picky/sensitive.[Other Thoughts]
One thing to keep in mind, especially for people who are in hurry, is that Fit works best when you lather it up. For example, simply spraying it on an Apple and then rinsing off probably won't do a whole lot. You need to lather it up with your hands first and then rinse it off.
According to their website Fit also disinfects and kills 99.9% of harmful bacteria. The reason I mention this is because they only advertise that it removes 98% of contaminants, and I wanted to make sure it disinfected as well -- and it does.
In case anyone's interested here are the ingredients they have listed on their website.
Ingredients/Chemical Name: Citric acid (from corn & molasses), sodium lauryl sulfate (derived from palm kernel and/or coconut oil), sodium carbonate & magnesium carbonate (all derived from minerals), Grapefruit Oil extract.
