Health Valley Soup-Microwavable tomato Bisq, 15-Ounce Units (Pack of 8) Review

Health Valley Soup-Microwavable tomato Bisq, 15-Ounce Units (Pack of 8)
Average Reviews:

There's 220 calories and 3g of fiber in this 15oz soup cup. I keep an assortment of these soups in the desk drawer of my office. I try to avoid the Big Mac-, Whopper- and cheeseburger-lunch choices that leave me feeling like a drugged Grizzly Bear, ready for nothing more than an afternoon nap.
These soups are simple to prepare and only take a couple minutes in a microwave. After a couple minutes, stir the soup with a spoon and then run the microwave for another 1-2 minutes.
There's 300 mg of sodium in this soup but it isn't nearly as salty as Campbell's microwavable tomato soup.
I enjoy and recommend the following organic microwavable soups from Health Valley:
Tomato Bisque
Black Bean
Lentil
Spicy 3 Bean Vegetarian Chili

I love Amy's because you can actually pronounce all the ingredients she uses--no chemicals, no preservatives, nothing you need a chemistry degree to decipher--and she makes pretty tasty food. Normally, I'm not a big fan of canned soups, but the Alphabet Soup is an exception. It's a rich tomatoey broth with a few vegetables and pasta alphabets. I like soup without a lot of "clutter," so to speak. My sole complaint is that the alphabet noodles are a bit mushy, but then what do you expect in a canned soup? Still, if you're looking for something to warm you on a chilly or rainy day, Amy's Fat Free Alphabet Soup fits the bill.

Wolfgang Puck Organic Creamy Tomato Soup, 14.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) Review

Wow, this is good soup! At first sip, it reminded me of Campbells, but it's not quite as sweet, is more tomato-ey, and is richer because of the butter. It's addictive, especially because it's so quick to serve (no struggling to dissolve milk or water into it). I can polish off a whole can just as a snack. I've also mixed in brown rice or whole wheat pasta for a healthy feast. Great stuff!!

Heinz Soup, Cream of Tomato, 14.1-Ounce Cans (Pack of 8) Review

Heinz Soup, Cream of Tomato, 14.1-Ounce Cans (Pack of 8)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For some reason, the good people at Heinz see fit to market a number of delectable items that Americans might like but are reserved for the Brits. One of them is baked beans (the kind you serve on toast, not the kind you serve with barbecue.) Another is this tomato soup.
The soup comes in a pull-tab can, with two moderate servings (not quite a full soup mug.) You do not dilute this soup. The flavor is rich with tomatoes. The "cream" is some skim milk and a little bit of cream; this is not a bisque. The other chief attraction is that the soup has no wheat flour.
Ingredients:
Tomatoes (84%), water, vegetable oil, sugar, modified cornflour, salt, dried skimmed milk, whey protein, cream, citric acid, spice extracts, herb extract
Compare this with Campbells:
tomato puree (water, tomato paste), water, wheat, flour, high fructose corn syrup, contains less than 2% of the following : salt, ascorbic acid (added to help retain color), flavoring, citric acid.
Look, Campbells has that nasty HFCS! That cloying, sweet taste that is not good for you! No wonder Heinz tastes like a tomato.

Campbell's Red & White Tomato Soup, 10.75-Ounce Cans (Pack of 48) Review

I've been eating a lot of soup lately as part of my diet. And I'm happy to say that this old childhood favorite is actually food. Unlike Campbells other soups you don't need an encyclopedia to understand what's in it. There's tomato puree, high fructose corn syrup, spices, salt and Ascorbic and Citric Acids.
No MSG. No hydrolyzed anything. Granted I am not a fan of corn syrup, but I'm giving them a break because it goes so good with crackers or a grilled cheese sandwich.
Still killer sodium levels but if you eat the whole can mixed with water it's only 225 calories.

Lipton Cup-A-Soup Tomato, 4-Count Pouches per Box (Pack of 12) Review

These are stocked in the snack room at work. I tried a few and thought they were pretty good, so I now have them at home for quick snacks. They taste about as good as canned soups, but calling them "soup" is a stretch. These are powdered mixes, so the soup is broth and noodles. I'm OK with that for a snack, but these would never be confused with stew or even real soup. ;-)
For me, the main attraction is convenience. They mix fairly well with hot water, but I use a small battery-powered blender to eliminate the clumps. This doesn't work so well for the ones with noodles.
My main concern is the sodium. I usually dilute it with at least 30% more water because it's just too salty. The calories are fairly low except for the tomato, which I found surprising. But I see that there's 13g of sugar in every packet. Wow!
Cal/Fat . . . Salt . . Sugar . . . Flavor
. 45/10 . . 470mg . . 01g . . Spring vegetable
. 45/10 . . 550mg . . 00g . . Chicken noodle with white meat
. 60/10 . . 600mg . . 02g . . Hearty chicken noodle
. 60/10 . . 630mg . . 04g . . Cream of chicken
. 90/00 . . 520mg . . 13g . . Tomato
(Sorry about the periods, but Amazon keeps compressing out multiple spaces.)
These are my favorites in order of preference:
1. Tomato: This is pretty good tomato soup -- guess it's the sugar. ;-) And it's too salty.
2. Chicken Noodle with White Meat: The "white meat" is just a memory (no chunks), but still, it's pretty good. Too salty.
3. Cream of Chicken: Not exactly "creamy", but slightly thicker than the chicken noodle. Too salty.
The price is amazing. At $16.64 for 12 4-packet boxes, it's 35¢/packet. I usually use two for an afternoon snack/meal that will last me a couple of hours for less than $1.00. These same boxes are available elsewhere for up to twice this price.
I like buying by the case, but I wish they had a variety pack. They have a shelf life of about a year.
The 4 rating is because of the sodium. I would give it a 5 if it were lower.

This is the bigger badder brother of regular tomato soup. And Campbell's is the best brand of tomato bisque I've ever had. I like it because it's creamy, sharp, sweet and has chunks of tomato in it. I don't know what else to say except that I've had this ever since I was a kid and it tastes really great. If you want to dress it up you can add some cognac or croutons in it, but other than that, it's great as is.

"Creamy" really is the main aspect of this soup. The color is a pastel version of terra cotta, quite far from a primary red, it's almost pink. I believe this would be wonderful in many dishes due to the high dairy content, such as creating a sauce for pasta. These containers will store at room temp very well for a long period of time, which is wonderful considering it's truly a dairy product. If you are looking for merely a soup, this may not fit your desires, however as a base for substantial dishes, it's a lil box of pre-made magic! I bought this with promotions combined for under 10 cents an ounce, I'm not so sure if I'd buy again at a higher price. I'm very satisfied at the price I received it for however. I will have fun combining the product with other ingredients and seeing what kind of dishes I can create. If you can get this at a discount, you'll probably enjoy having it in storage for future use whenever the "cream" craving hits. Also this arrived as a box within the shipped box, packed so tightly in it's original box that there was no chance of any damage, truly pristine containers arrived.

This soup is made with fresh tomato, ripened by the sun on a farm we know and trust. The warmth of summer is captured in its sweet, delicious nature. Pureed with a hint of cheddar cheese to balance out the sweetness of the tomato with nearly half the sodium as the original. Dip your grilled cheese into a steaming hot cup on a cold, winter day. Or serve cool. Top with freshly chopped tomato, cucumber and mint for a refreshing summertime twist.
