(More customer reviews)If you think of this as just a spinach soup mix, you're seriously limiting yourself. But if, like my husband and me, you're starting to use more whole grains in your diet, you can spice life up a bit just by adding this or Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix, 19-Ounce Units (Pack of 2) when you cook such things as brown rice or whole wheat couscous. Try adding a package's worth of this or the vegetable soup mix plus 1 cup of water to the package directions for 1-2 cups of any of the RiceSelect Whole Grain Lover's Sampler, Rice and Couscous Variety Pack, 4-Jar Set grains -- it's delightful, essentially dinner-party quality, and so, SO easy!!! Great product.
P.S. Obviously good just for regular soup, too! :)

(More customer reviews)I've been having trouble finding this in my local grocery stores, so I ordered a case. This stuff is great - toss with veggies or potatoes and a little olive oil and roast. Delicious! Sprinkle over fish with some breadcrumbs and dot with butter or olive oil and bake. I have no idea if you can actually make soup with it, and don't care. I use it just to season foods and it's excellent.

(More customer reviews)Lipton's onion soup and dip mix has been handy for me. First, I have used it in several slow cooker dishes. It adds a nice touch along these lines.
I have also used this to cook hunks of beef. Put the roast into a Dutch oven with this onion soup mix and cook at low heat over time. It ends up tasting pretty good!
This isn't a top-of-the-line product, of course, but it is a nice complement in a number of recipes that I have tried.

(More customer reviews)I use to use the regular Lipton Onion soup mix for chip dip until I came across this a few years back. This is far and away the best for dip. The other was too salty and too strong. However, the Golden Onion is far less salty and more subtle. Lipton suggests using one packet for each pound of sour cream. However, I buy a 3 lb of Daisy sour cream at Walmart and mix two packets (2.6 oz's) into the container and it makes the best dip. I have literally caught guests dipping their fingers in it. I hope they never quite offering it. I like it best with big thick pretzels. It's also delicous with vegies too. My husband and I are active in the motorcycling community and and we like to entertain. People literally look forward to our gatherings because they know we'll have the dip. My husband tells our friends it's his "secret recipe".

(More customer reviews)I have used the Lipton recipe secrets with and on many items - in the oven on beef and pork roasts, in the pressure cooker with spare ribs, in the crock pot with beef stew. It's quick and easy to use and it adds just the right flavor to everything! It's a flavorful au jus or a gravy enhancer. I haven't yet tried it as a soup, but I am sure that will be just as good as all the other uses I have tried.

(More customer reviews)These are stocked in the snack room at work. I tried a few and thought they were pretty good, so I now have them at home for quick snacks. They taste about as good as canned soups, but calling them "soup" is a stretch. These are powdered mixes, so the soup is broth and noodles. I'm OK with that for a snack, but these would never be confused with stew or even real soup. ;-)
For me, the main attraction is convenience. They mix fairly well with hot water, but I use a small battery-powered blender to eliminate the clumps. This doesn't work so well for the ones with noodles.
My main concern is the sodium. I usually dilute it with at least 30% more water because it's just too salty. The calories are fairly low except for the tomato, which I found surprising. But I see that there's 13g of sugar in every packet. Wow!

2. Chicken Noodle with White Meat: The "white meat" is just a memory (no chunks), but still, it's pretty good. Too salty.
3. Cream of Chicken: Not exactly "creamy", but slightly thicker than the chicken noodle. Too salty.
The price is amazing. At $16.64 for 12 4-packet boxes, it's 35¢/packet. I usually use two for an afternoon snack/meal that will last me a couple of hours for less than $1.00. These same boxes are available elsewhere for up to twice this price.
I like buying by the case, but I wish they had a variety pack. They have a shelf life of about a year.
The 4 rating is because of the sodium. I would give it a 5 if it were lower.

This product is wonderful and there were no problems. This was so nice to have on hand for those "unexpected" parties and gatherings. I was able to whip up a quick dip & just grab a bag of chips and bring to the party. There are so many uses for this product. I used in dips, soups, stews, gravy/sauce, rice pilaf, etc. Sure comes in handy for that extra flavor! Just perfect!
