I really do like the flavor of this soup. I don't find the flavor bland at all, but I also don't smoke or eat a lot of salt or sugar (things that can greatly affect one's ability to taste flavors). I don't add anything to this soup and enjoy it for lunch once or twice a week. The portion is just right. I wish it was available for subscribe & save.
HOWEVER, the lid sucks! I do spill a good tablespoon or so getting the lid to peel off and inevitably have to wash my hands and wipe off the counter. There's just no easy way around it that I can figure out. That is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. But the soup is so much better than it's competition that I still buy it regularly.

Campbell's Condensed Scotch Broth, 10.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) Review

Campbell's Condensed Scotch Broth, 10.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
According to Campbell's, Camden, NJ, Headquarter's Customer Service Department, I was told that sales of Campbell's Scotch Broth Soup have been discontinued in the USA.
In the New England region, I first noticed Campbell's Scotch Broth Soup disappearing from grocery store shelves during the Summer of 2010.
I soon learned that, at a 2010 annual Campbell's USA business, sales planning meeting, it was decided to discontinue distributing Campbell's Canadian made soups in the USA, that require higher priced ingredients, thus allowing for higher profit for Campbell's U.S. division.
Instead, for the U.S. market, it was decided to introduce more cheaply produced, U.S. manufactured children's theme soups, (such as Dora the Explorer), which utilize the same, cheap chicken soup base as many of their other soups, so Campbell's could grow profits at a rapid rate, well into the future.
So, you see, Maximum Profit, not popularity, is the actual reason why Scotch Broth, among other products, (such as Pepper Pot Soup), have been discontinued...Profit rules supreme at Campbell's these days. Shame on Campbell's for ruining and discontinuing a once great and complete line of products available in the USA.
But, Canadians can still buy and enjoy Campbell's Scotch Broth because, although no longer available in the USA, Campbell's Scotch Broth is still manufactured and sold in Canada, which you can see when visiting their Canadian website by googling: "campbellsoup.ca"
Why aren't Americans worthy of Campbell's better quality soups, such as Scotch Broth?

I love asparagus, canned, fresh, frozen, in soup or anyway. This however has a strange bitter taste, but I ate it anyway and suffered no ill effects. The ingredients says it is asparagus, salt and water. But it also says it is a product of Peru. Maybe it is just a different verity of asparagus or the water they used. I won't buy this again and I don't recommend it.

Two years ago we tried Wolfgang Puck's organic tomato with basil soup because it had the lowest sodium of canned soups. What we found was wonderful, fresh tomato taste. Campbell Soups bought Puck's soup division and have phased it out. I found four cases on Amazon and bought all. We treasure this soup so much we had to have it shipped to a daughter in California (Amazon wouldn't ship to Hawaii), then paid to have it shipped on to us. We older, retired and extra expense is a problem...but the taste is worth it.

There's 260 calories, 6g of protein and 3g of fiber in this 15oz soup cup. I keep an assortment of Health Valley microwavable soups in my desk drawer at my office. I try to avoid the Big Mac-, Whopper- and cheeseburger-lunch choices that leave me feeling like a drugged Grizzly Bear, ready for nothing more than an afternoon nap.
These soups are simple to prepare and only take a couple minutes in a microwave. After a couple minutes, stir the soup with a spoon and then run the microwave for another 1-2 minutes.
There's 480 mg of sodium in this soup but I didn't find the soup to be overly salty to taste.
I enjoy and recommend the following organic microwavable soups from Health Valley:
Tomato Bisque
Black Bean
Lentil
Spicy 3 Bean Vegetarian Chili

Wow, this is good soup! At first sip, it reminded me of Campbells, but it's not quite as sweet, is more tomato-ey, and is richer because of the butter. It's addictive, especially because it's so quick to serve (no struggling to dissolve milk or water into it). I can polish off a whole can just as a snack. I've also mixed in brown rice or whole wheat pasta for a healthy feast. Great stuff!!

I'm a foodie and love this soup! I avoid gluten, and had missed the comfort and taste of chicken noodle soup for years. This is a real 'adult' chicken soup with nice-sized chunks of chicken, carrots and celery. The picture on the label doesn't do justice to the rice -- the rice inside is a nice, textured, wild rice. Sorry to see that the other reviewers had a bad experience, but I wonder if the cans they received were handled improperly because my experience doesn't resemble theirs at all. I've eaten about 6 cans of this soup so far, and am now buying it by the case.

This soup is absolutely delicious! The chicken tastes like real chicken - not processed "fake" meat. And, the wild rice adds just a bit of yummy crunch. For some reason I think it's way better than the chicken noodle one. If you eat strictly organic, it's perfect for when you don't have time to make a fresh meal.

I've been eating Linketts since I was a very young child since my Grandparents are vegetarians, and I LOVE them. I will admit it is a very aquired taste. I even got my boyfriend started on them and he loves them too. =D
I would suggest finding a store that sells them by the can before you invest in a whole case. I know that you can find them at Raley's on the West Coast. If local health food stores don't carry them check to see if there is a Seventh Day Adventist Church near you. The SDA Church typically has a book center that sells the Worthington/Loma Linda products.
Edit: I have also found Linketts in the natural food section of Kroger's here in Texas as well. Another Edit.. My local Kroger has stopped carrying Linketts. =(

I definitely consider these soups to be over priced but this soup is extremely tasty and well worth the Amazon price after their additional special sale is also deducted. The problem with most canned soups, and this is absolutely no exception, is that the salt content of one can fulfills 100% of every individual's daily requirement of sodium. And they don't even use Sea Salt or other more natural salts instead of the artificially man made damaging chemically altered salt. I know that this salt makes up a good portion of the volume and weight of each can but it is killing our society and should be replaced and eliminated. Someone must know how to 'can' a tasty, lower, good salt soup?

I purchased 2 of these at a discount store for $.50/bottle and had my first one today for my late morning snack instead of the usual bag of potato chips or Fritos... It satisfied my salt craving and my hunger craving quite well and was not bad for a processed packaged shelf food product. I know i was not expecting a 5 star restaurant taste and actually expected a no-name brand taste of Campbells soup but was pleasantly surprised that it tasted quite good, kind of like a rich creamy tomato soup with distinct flavors of cucumber, green pepper and olive oil. I will most likely go back in the next few days to pick up a few more, maybe even a dozen before they sell out!
