This seasoning can be found in just about every home in Switzerland and probably most other European homes but for some reason Americans don't know about it. It is one of the most versatile seasonings ever and I cant imagine cooking without it. Its a MUST for veggies, pasta, eggs, soups, salads and sauces. I wish some importer would see the opportunity it this product and market it to the whole country.

(More customer reviews)I bought this kombu with the idea that I would make dashi (Japanese broth) but I found it is also good for making pickled vegetables. I put cukes, daikon, raw green peppers, and anything else that I would like in a crunchy salad, in a glass jar with some sea salt, leaving it in the refrigerator. The vegetables give up their juices and soak in a brine of salt and juice.
The vegetables stay crunchy and flavorful. I put them on hamburgers and in salads. Even on a cracker with some cream cheese!
Shredded kombu (cut it with scissors after it has soaked a good long while in the salad) is a flavorful addition.

This fruit seasoning is quite addictive, you'll want to start putting it on everything, but I personally think that it tastes best on over-ripe melon of any type. The sweeter the fruit, the more tasty the result!

(More customer reviews)I really was shocked to see directions using 1/2 gallon of milk, and 1 1/2 gallons of water. Another instance of not enough information to help me know what I was buying. I thought there would be quantities for family use. At least the can will store what is not used. Let's see if I use 2 cups of milk and 6 cups of water how much of the mix do I use? Then there is a recipe on the can for tomato bisque soup that adds heavy cream to figure out... It is a good thing I like math.

I use Vegeta when making soups, stews, Chicken or Veal Marsala or Piccata. Vegeta can be used to season rice or pasta. Since it is made from vegetables, I have used it to enrich the flavor of vegetarian Thanksgiving 'stuffing'. Vegeta can also be used to enhance sauces and gravies. If you haven't tried Vegeta, I urge you to do so. I believe that it is widely used across Europe.

It is made with fresh organically grown vegetables and herbs combined with a quality sea salt for several months which allows the salt to take on the flavors and natural oils from the plants and then all is vacuum-dehydrated to seal in the flavor.
Very tasty, however, for anyone who wants to watch their sodium intake, I would recommend the Herbamare Diet which is a low-sodium version of the original reviewed here. Best not to use this original version if you have high blood pressure. [...] Or just Google it.

It's also very addictive probably due to the MSG. Add olive oil and red wine vinegar, Mmmmmm. I can't believe I found it here, b/c you cannot find it in mainstream supermarkets nor ethnic markets anymore.

(More customer reviews)...virus and flu have been rampant here since the SPRING. The homefront grew tired of the old Chicken Noodle Soup standby. I needed something I could use to add fresh or frozen veggies and leftovers to make something quick and nutritious. This also is great for making soup from "almost" scratch. It's good as a veggie broth. It really comes in handy to cook rice instead of using salt for flavoring.
Although a good product the pricing makes a BIG difference,I got it for 26 bucks.
I only gave it 4 STARS due to it's high sodium content, it is a bit salty - 1 teaspoon = 41% of your DAILY salt intake. The two pack will hold me over for awhile.
