(More customer reviews)I spent some time in Italy this past Summer (Tuscany) where I rented a villa and had the occasion to cook several times. Not only was the product convenient and reduce waste with it's recloseable tube, the product itself was incredible. It was not acidic and really added incredible tomato flavor and richness to the dishes I prepared. I actually brought several tubes home with me. You can find other brands in US specialty food shops packaged this same way but I have yet to find one that is comparable in taste.

I have always been a big fan of Mole Sauce, but the stuff you buy in the Grocery Stores never matched the flavor and consistency of what you could get in a Mexican Resturant. This stuff comes as close as you can get. The other Mole sauces commonly sold have a wierd consistency, more like a paste and seem awfully messy. This one is more like a sauce and it comes in a bottle that can be closed and put in the frig so you can use it any time you like. Its a little on the spicy side, but not overwhelming. Great on Thanksgiving turkey left overs.

(More customer reviews)This base has a very good flavor, but you can easily add too much and have your dish come out salty.
I like to cook brown rice in stock and herbs. I can get "Better Than Bouillon" at the store but I am always looking for a less expensive alternative.
I would use this product again, but I would go to the extra trouble of boiling some water and adding the base to taste and then using it in my dish, as opposed to just adding a teaspoon or tablespoon, and not really paying attention.

(More customer reviews)While this isn't the best ever curry mix available, it IS pretty good. What makes it worth buying is the simplicity. You literally just boil the bag in a pot of water, cut it open and pour it over cooked rice (or noodles) and you're done. Instant curry dinner for one. (or two if you are just snacking) The box is marked "Hot" and it's got a decent level of spice or heat, but it's not hot by my standards, if you're looking for fire breathing hot curry, you'll want to add some spices of your own and do some doctoring here. But again, for a quick curry fix or snack, it'll work fine. There are some small carrots & potatoes in the packet already & they are ok, totally edible. I usually cook a small lamb chop or pork chop to add to the rice for a full meal after a busy day - makes a nice enough cold weather meal with a favorite movie type of thing.

(More customer reviews)Most people are accustomed to a fairly high-sodium diet (>2500mg). It is everywhere and in places you wouldn't suspect. For someone like me who has to pay attention to sodium because it spikes my blood pressure, this was a great find. This product has no added salt/sodium. As such, many will find it bland if they don't add a little salt (the cooking instructions do say "salt to taste"). Being used to not using salt in cooking, I found it tasty enough without adding salt. For salt-sensitive folks, this is a great product.

It's veggie and not oily at all. Very fresh tasting. Very full flavored so that you can eat it very plain. I love it best with the 5 cheese tortellini that they were giving out as samples. Just great!

(More customer reviews)I really like this product for it's simplicity. Essentially a single serving of pre-made curry in less than 5 minutes - what's not to like? You toss the packet in a pot of boiling water for five minutes, cut it open, pour over rice and you have a meal. It's also possible to microwave this curry, but it's easier if you just boil the packet instead. The flavor is good and carrots & potatoes are already included (also they are not mushy or overcooked) so all you need is some cooked rice and if you choose a little cooked beef, lamb or chicken and you have an entire meal with almost no trouble at all.
My ONLY complaint and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the medium hot should really be called mild. There is no heat at all to this curry - if you want heat, bring your own and add it. This company (brand) makes the same product in a black box that is called "hot" and while I don't consider it truly hot by an stretch, it does have some heat and thus a little more depth of flavor. I much prefer that version to this one in the green box. However, in a pinch, craving a single serving of curry and being too lazy to do all the work of cutting/cooking fresh veggies etc either of these versions will totally work. ESPECIALLY if you live in a place with zero Indian restaurants and no Indian food options in the local grocery stores.

It tastes so good, and the beauty of it is that there is nothing unwholesome in it - just a lot of delicious organic foods and their flavors. the texture is a little chunky (nicely so), there is no sour tomato taste, everything is balanced, not too much salt or flavor enhancers or cover-ups. It's just super delicious from the first to the last bite. The fact that it is organic is a huge plus.

Amore Tomato Paste, 4.5-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 12) Review

(More customer reviews)In the past, I just didn't use tomato paste very often. That's because most brands are just nasty. We'd always have a can of Hunt's or Contadina around, but I'd always be disappointed whenever I used them. It's really annoying to, say, make homemade enchilada sauce, have it taste mediocre, and then add insult to injury by having to throw away half a can of leftover tomato paste.
Amore, by contrast, actually keeps the bright tomato flavor. Since it's in tubes, there's none of the "tinny" taste so common to canned foods. And it's so easy to squeeze out a small amount that I use it all the time. There are all sorts of soups and sauces that can benefit from a little tomato flavor, but which don't justify opening a whole can of paste. (Not to mention the fact that most canned pastes would make the food taste worse, not better.)
There are only two mysteries about this product for me. First, a 1 1/2 tablespoon serving has 2 grams of fat. No other tomato pastes I looked at contain fat. Since the ingredients are only tomato paste and salt, I have to wonder where this fat comes from. The second mystery is that they label the box as "double concentrated." As far as I can tell, it's no more concentrated than any other tomato paste: I still have to use exactly the same amount in a recipe, it just tastes better than the other brands.
But I'll forgive Amore the mysterious fat and exaggerated labeling. This has become a cooking essential in my kitchen.

I really like MTR products, their Bindhi Masala and Kharabath are my favorites with Roti, and I've had most of their Muttar's and Paneer's; all have been pretty good. I usually buy them at a local India store, but I saw that Amazon was selling them, so I thought I'd give it try. As I was browsing, I saw this Pineapple Sweet & Sour Curry, and based upon my other experiences I thought this sounded really good, so I bought a 10 pack and was looking forward to trying it. Boy was I wrong. I opened one pack and heated it up. It smelled kind of weird, but I thought it may just be the spices, so on to the taste test.... I can't describe the taste, other than vomit or when you burp 20 minutes after eating and get a nice mix of stomach acid and regurgitated food. I thought maybe the pack was bad, so I opened packet #2, warmed it up and guess what?? It smelled and tasted the same. I logged into Amazon to see if I could send this back, but it was a non-returnable item, so I threw them all in the garbage. I don't usually leave reviews; this is actaully my first one, and only because I don't want someone else to do what I did. As a side note, I bought a 10 pack of Kharabath in the same order, and it tastes great as expected. Maybe they discontinued this item, and if so, the reason is obvious.

(More customer reviews)Bull Dog's Chuno has become a flavorful addition to my kitchen. I've used it in everything: marinades, rice, stir fries, vegetables, etc. I've also used it by itself or as a base to dipping sauces. It also adds a nice component to homemade bbq sauce. If I had to compare it to something it would be steak sauce. Everytime I want to change a dish up a bit, I use chuno. I've bought mine from somewhere else and didn't know it came in larger sizes. The offering here is almost double the size, but it's also almost triple the price. However, if the place I buy it from were to stop, I'd buy it here without fail. I just wish they had the 50% less salt version.
