(More customer reviews)I just tried this product tonight and used it to make delicious gravy! This is the best base I have used as it produced great results. I consistency is so much better than the cube and the taste...you won't be disappointed. Also bought the mushroom but have not yet tried it.

(More customer reviews)Ordered my third jar yesterday. This is so delicious! I use it as a minestrone base, a substitute for the ramen MSG laden soup packets, add it to my gravies and chile verde. I'd use it sparingly until you figure out what works for you. For myself, about two teaspoons per three cups of water seems to work.

(More customer reviews)This base has a very good flavor, but you can easily add too much and have your dish come out salty.
I like to cook brown rice in stock and herbs. I can get "Better Than Bouillon" at the store but I am always looking for a less expensive alternative.
I would use this product again, but I would go to the extra trouble of boiling some water and adding the base to taste and then using it in my dish, as opposed to just adding a teaspoon or tablespoon, and not really paying attention.

(More customer reviews)On the product label you will see "autolyzed yeast extract" which is another name for MSG. When yeast is autolyzed, protein is broken-down during that processing and glutamic acid is freed (processed free glutamic acid is none other than MSG). According to truthinlabeling.org, "There are over forty food ingredients besides 'monosodium glutamate' that contain processed free glutamic acid. Each, according to the FDA, must be called by its own unique, 'common or usual' name." Thus, food manufacturers can state 'no added MSG' for their product yet the product may still contain MSG disguised by another name, such as 'autolyzed yeast extract', 'hydrolyzed protein', 'calcium caseinate', etc. You get the point. MSG and its various pseudonyms are everywhere and in everything (including body care products, infant formula, etc.) so read, read, read labels please and become informed.

I like how I can determine the amount I use. Unlike bouillon, I can scoop up the amount I want to use with my spoon--especially helpful since I usually go back for more.
