I can't wait to see his face when he opens the gift. I love it so much I might have to get one for myself, although I don't need it and would not use glass for a cutting board (not good for quality knives). It's a keeper.

(More customer reviews)These choppng mats work very well for the price. I was actually expecting them to be a bit thicker than they are, but I am nevertheless impressed with the quality. I have cut numerous vegetables and meats on them and they have not torn even though you can see cut marks on them. I like the fact that I can cut my items and pick up the mat and bend it for easier addition to the pan or storage bag. I will definitely buy these again!

You should use a wood oil in your kitchen instead of vegetable oil because mineral oil does not break down or become rancid. Wood oil gives sheen and water and stain resistance to wood items such as butcher block, cutting boards, pizza peels and wooden salad bowls. You can use wood oil to darken and restore the appearance of faded wooden knife handles or dried out wood cutting boards. This is a must have for any kitchen with wood items. If you buy any sort of wood gift this is a thoughtfull add on which will help your gift to both maintain its beauty and last longer. This product appears to be offered at the best price on Amazon. Add it to your next order.
Snow River Wood Oil is an identical product but at the price of $6.99. The Snow River oil has also been available as a 4 for 3 promotion.
Wood and bamboo oils are much less exotic than one might think. I actually use mineral oil laxative on my wood kitchen items ($2 for 16 oz. at many drug stores) which is the same thing. Clearly the laxative bottle is less than aesthetically pleasing and is embarassing to leave around the kitchen. My wife keeps hiding the bottle in fact. But No it won't have a laxative effect if you use it on your cutting boards or knife handles.

(More customer reviews)Previous to purchasing this set of chopping mats, I had one fairly large chopping block and one quite small chopping block (both porous) which seemed to always be dirty. If they weren't dirty, I needed to cut all the vegetables before I cut any meat, and I'm not always that organized. These solve the problems, don't stain, and hang neatly on a nail inside my pantry. The flexibility is an added plus, as vegetables and meats can be swept into pots/pans of any size with ease.

MIU Flexible Cutting Board, Set of 5 Review

(More customer reviews)I thought these would be much more flexible than they are. We do use them regularly, but they are not nearly so pliable as just picking up and easily curling them to create a funnel for your food. They have a tendancy to snap back, and I wouldn't dare store them rubber-banded up as they would never go flat again. Indeed, our biggest complaint with these is that they just require too much effort to bend one way or another - be it rolled up for moving items to the pan or flat on the counter for chopping.
And don't even think about putting them in the dishwasher, even on the gentle cycle, regardless of what the description says! They get even more brittle in the dishwasher and lose what little flexibility they have.
At the end of the day, I wouldn't buy them again.

So I decided to order some and try it out and I love it. There are several chopping boards on the market but none that have curved "up" edges, (at least none that I could find) which keep the juices and any liquid on the cutting board that is, until you are ready to clean it. Cleaning is easy, just toss in the dishwasher or rinse in the sink... Clean up is EASY!!!!

(More customer reviews)The cutting board remains in place with the non-skid corners. I resharpened all my knives after having used an old glass-type cutting board which dulled them at every use. Knife ends the cut on a softer note. It will stain somewhat from certain vegetables (squash in my case) but that is the only slight drawback. Otherwise a 5 star. Gutter around inside very helpful to collect liquids. Shipped very quickly. Very pleased with the product.

Oxo 73281 OXO Good Grips Pastry Scraper Review

(More customer reviews)Update 8/25/07: I love this so much that I bought a second one! Now I have one for baking and another for everything else. When I cook big meals, I tire of having to rewash it.
This is my second bench scraper. The first was a single sheet of metal that curved to form a handle. The measurements were painted on it. I probably paid $3 for it. After repeated use and trips to the diswasher, the measurements began to wear off and the bottom started to get uneven.
I am so thankful for this version by OXO! There's the obvious sturdy handle, but what I love the most is that the measurements are etched instead of painted. I have to have the measurements because I use bench scrapers to measure the thicknes of dough in addition to cutting product (you'll never cut brownies or bars again with a knife) and cleaning the board. This product is a lot heavier than my previous version and I like the weighty feel.
Dishwasher safe.

(More customer reviews)The board fit very well over the counter. The problem I have with it is the surface is very slippery. When you starting slicing or dicing your food, the food starts slipping around. Also the handles do not have any stoppers in them, so they fall out. I had my old cutting board (another brand) hanging off the inside of the cabinet door below the sink. I am unable to do this with the Progressive because the handles come out.

Several years ago the Restaurants were made to get rid of all wooden cutting boards, because of bacteria being able to live on the wood surfaces where normal washing couldn't get to. A friend, who owns a diner in Ok. told me to get rid of the wooden board that I had and I found one like this. I have used it almost every day for years and it is still good. However lately I've been cutting mattes for some pictures and it worked so well that I ordered another to use for that purpose alone. I just missed it too much in the kitchen.
I would like to mention that I couldn't find one locally, Even at Walmart. All they had were wooden boards.

I got it when I was in my old apartment and had precious little kitchen space, and had to think very carefully about what I wanted filling up my cupboards so that I'd have enough room for necessities. Even though I have more space now, this is still my preferred colander. It's easy to clean, and works just fine. I just stand it up flat in a cupboard along with my baking sheets. While many of Joseph Joseph's products are over designed, over priced and/or unnecessary, this one is definitely worth it and is quite valuable if you have a small kitchen.

(More customer reviews)This is the best Scraper/Chopper ever. It scrapes up dough sweetly on my granite counter top. I also have used it to scoop up mixed chopped veggies on my wooden cutting board. It's a lovely versatile scraper. I especially love the health aspects of it being stainless steel, it is much better then anything with a plastic or wooden handle.
This is so convenient, I use it all the time now. It looks fantastic and functions even better! It cleans up super easy with a little dish soap, hot water and then I just wipe it dry!
The measurements on the side are nice when I am cutting certain veggies to keep them all uniform.
Really a terrific product for every kitchen and the service from the seller was amazing. It arrived super quick and in no time it was washed and being used in my kitchen!

(More customer reviews)These aren't the most durable, but they do last through quite a few uses. The colors are cheerful, and they work fine. Their thin shape makes them easy to store. You can even curl them in your hands to make a sort of funnel to easily dump the chopped food into a pot. Nice item, and a bargain. And you can clean them in the dishwasher.
Recommended, but with these limitations: (1) Because they are so thin, you don't want to put anything hot onto them -- they will warp. (2) Because they are so light, they can slide around the counter. These limitations eventually made me switch to much more expensive, thick, rubber-footed cutting boards -- but only after a long period using these with good results.
