(More customer reviews)When I was growing up in the 50's/60's, every cook had a granny fork. When my mom passed, somehow I didn't get The Fork. The tines on this baby are really sharp, so I wouldn't get near non-stick with it, but it's fine with cast iron. Love it for lightly beating eggs, testing taters for doneness and removing them from the pot, turning pork chops, all the stuff my granny and mom used it for. Really nice price for a nostalgic and versatile utensil! (I even eat with mine, but ya gotta watch those sharp tines. You could get hurt.)

(More customer reviews)These are great little knives and I am planning on adding many more RADA knives to our household. First. I love the fact that they are made right here in the United States by a well-established company. They have a Life-Time guarantee. And they are a GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY! The blades are as good as any of the Swiss or German manufacturer knives.
Be sure and get the Rada Knife Sharpener when you order. Although the Rada knives have been holding their edges very nicely so far, I have salvaged other knives in our kitchen with their great little easy-to-use sharpener!
I have not placed these in the dishwasher yet. We usually handwash all our cutting knives, so these are no different. But I do not have to worry if the kids are visiting and one or more of these get into the dishwasher inadvertantly (which is why I opted for the black handles instead of the silver ones available).
They do not have "heft" to them, but handle nicely (in my opinion) and cut divinely! This is a great little set for a housewarming or other gift also, so many people make-do with inferior knives that it would be a welcome addition to any home.

(More customer reviews)UPDATE: Be aware that bec the handles are aluminum, the oils in your hands will make the handles become a dull grey.
My husband is the carver in our family and he loves this knife. It is light weight, will not take up the room that the electric knife does and slices like "buttah". He prefers it over the electric knife. And we, like Alton Brown, don't like unitaskers. It is less unwieldy as well & no fuss. The handle has a satin finish to it, so there is a texture. It is inexpensive enough so that if it doesn't last (which I don't see why it wouldn't) that we could replace it easily. I bought the steak knives and 2 tomato slicers and like them a lot.

(More customer reviews)If you are able to get real bagels - as opposed to the bread-like things sold in grocery stores or in the mid-West - this knife is for you. I make my own bagels, using high-gluten flour and the boiling method, and the exterior is definitely the "tough" crust of real bagels. Most bread knives had some difficulty biting into the crust and then cutting through the entire bagel.
This Rada bagel knife bit right in and was able to handle the tough bagel crust without damaging the more delicate interior. I've been using it for three years, and the knife is just as sharp as the day I got it.
I would not recommend using this knife on more delicate breads and rolls as the cutting edge is rather coarse. Rada makes a wonderful bread knife and a short bread knife that are ideal for other breads.

The knives and gadgets are well made and durable--I especially love this peeler for carrots and cucumbers and my serrated chopper makes short work of chopping a cup or more of nuts (and I do not have to drag out the food processor, etc.).
I have many Rada knives, also, and find them to remain sharp for a long time and to have a good "feel" in the hand. They are also made in USA!
