(More customer reviews)This Chopper is only useful for soft things like garlic and herbs. The blades bend easily out of place when chopping anything substantial like carrots, nuts etc. You have to bend the blades back by hand in order to get it reassembled after cleaning. This poses a risk of injury, and it is not easy to get the in the exact position to fit the blade guide. Unfortunately, I could not return it because I didn't save the original box.
If you only need it for garlic, herbs and the like, it should serve you well. Otherwise,Emson Chop Genie Food Chopper As Seen on tv I would go for another chopper with stronger blades.

Food Chopper (Perfect Chopper) Review

Chops firmer stuff like onions, bell peppers, etc. pretty well. Gotta be careful not to underestimate # of chops, then chop more if pieces too big. Otherwise a couple or three extra chops can result in a semi-puree!
Cleanup is pretty easy and quick.
Cons -
Useless for mushrooms, which is one of the things I need to chop most often - the pieces of mushrooms get wedged in between the blades, which prevents the blades from being lifted all the way back up for the next chopping motion. I had to use a couple of different small utensils to get in between the blades and unwedge the pieces.
Reassembly would be a breeze except for one thing - there's a piece with cutouts that slides over the blades and keeps the chopped pieces from getting in the chopping mechanism, and you have to slide it off the blades for cleanup, then slide it back on over the blades to reassemble. The PROBLEM is that there's very little wiggle room in the cutouts on that piece, and the material of the piece is a bit pliable, so the cutout spaces get compressed, making it a ROYAL PAIN to get it to line up properly to slide back up over the blades. I worked out a way that has it a bit easier, but it took a bit of trial and error, I'd explain it but I think it's not worth the trouble.
Thankfully I got it for only 5 bucks on sale at CVS/Pharmacy, so not such a terrible loss.

Westmark Mushroom/Egg Slicer Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this mushroom slicer because the wire egg slicers I had been using don't work very well on mushrooms (the wires end up stretching). I thought the individual blades on this slicer were a great idea, and looked forward to using this time-saving device. However, it turns out to have several fatal flaws in its design and implementation.
First, the "food-safe," "powder-coated" finish started chipping when I first washed it; this was mostly around where the blades attach to the handle, but from the looks of it, the rest will soon follow. Second, the blades don't go all the way through the mushroom, leaving the pieces all attached at the bottom; you have to reach underneath and pull the slices through the rest of the way to complete the slicing action, which seriously reduces this gadget's usefulness. Third, one of the blades bent the first time I used it (simply slicing through mushrooms!); I was able to bend it back into place (for now), but they should be much more solid than that. Finally, the little (ultra-thin) strip of metal that works as a spring to open the slicer is held in place by nothing more than two tiny indentations on each side of the handle; after the first use, the strip was bent in enough to cause it to slip right out. I bent it back the other direction and wedged it back into place, but it's obvious that this cheap design won't survive too many more uses.
At this price, you would expect a mushroom slicer to actually slice mushrooms without suffering damage. The box mentions a "guarantee," but provides no information on what that guarantee is or how to contact the company to offer them the opportunity to stand behind their product; for all I know, they may simply be "guaranteeing" that you're a sucker if you're willing to pay such a ridiculous price for a worthless gadget simply because it's German-made. I suppose that it is the made-in-Germany factor that purports to justify the hefty price of this slicer, but in reality it might as well be made in China.

(More customer reviews)I can well remember as a child my father using one of these while making egg salad because he liked the eggs finely chopped and this worked like a charm. When dad died, one of the few things my youngest sister wanted was his "egg chopper" but we couldn't find it. Finally, I thought to go online and look for one and, of all the gifts I gave my sister that Christmas, this was her favorite one. In fact, when she opened it, her first words were "Hello, Dad." Such a small gift, yet such a large and welcomed memory!
