(More customer reviews)Didn't buy this off Amazon, I had it at a local store. A friend told me that she bought one since they have numerous apple trees in their yard. She makes applesauce and said that it worked wonders for her. I bought and made applesauce the next day. It took me a total of 20 minutes to cut, cook and make 1 1/4 quarts of applesauce (it was about 1/2 a plastic grocery bag of apples). I nearly cried. The seeds, core, stem and peel all come out from the open end while the applesauce shoots down the slide. My 3 year old even helped turn the crank for it. Now I can do lots of applesauce in a very short amount of time. My friend has also riced potatoes (for making lefsa) and did 2 large pots in about 5 minutes.
One thing I do know is that you need to clean the screen as soon as possible. The mesh is not stainless steel and will rust if not cleaned and dried off as soon as you are done using it. Other than that, I can't say enough about this product! Definitely a must have if you make your own baby food (which we do), applesauce, jams, salsas, pumpkin puree and just about anything else that you may can. LOVE IT!

the machine is well built, and the instructions were made designed the way you could follow them easily. most products i buy, the instructions do not have empathy for the user who must assemble and use the product.
it worked great on the tomatoes. the seeds, peels and core came out the "discard end" and the pure "pulp juice" came out the front. i processed 200 tomatoes without a problem. bang for the buck, you can't beat the production this machine will give you the tomato season

(More customer reviews)This is the best thing in the kitchen for home processing of fruits and vegetables. Bought it for tomatoes to make sauce and juice, but after reading booklet found out other uses such as raspberry juice (we use for homemade ice cream) I used to strain the berries through cheese cloth and clean pantyhose to get out seeds, but with this not only do i get clean juice but more of it as you can reprocess the "waste" several times. I would highly recommend this item. Save yourself the trouble and just buy the extra screens when you purchase the base kit.

Home Style CIFVS Cast Iron Fruit and Vegetable Strainer Review

(More customer reviews)I was very disappointed with the packaging to start with. The outside shipping box was fine, no dents or problems. But the inside box, the orginal fruit strainer box looks like it was sat on by an elephant. The box was totally falling apart, why would you ship a product in a box that was already destroyed. The plastic bowl to put the fruit in was mashed and dirty, stained from the cast iron pieces. The 'Cast iron' base is the cheapest 'pop metal' my husband calls it. The washer won't stay in place around the handle so the fruit juice will leak everywhere. This was supposed to be a gift. But it looks like the cheapest imitation of a food strainer. I tried to get information to return this product but neither Amazon or ANTonline who shipped the product can 'find' my order. Even with the order number provided on the package and/or Email reciept. Convienent right! Besides by the time you are out shipping to get it here, shipping to return it and a restocking fee; they made sure it is not cost effective in any way to return this product. I am very dissappointed in both Amazon and ANTonline. I have to buy another gift for my daughter in law now. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. SPEND A LITTLE MORE AND BE GLAD YOU DID. I own a Back to Basics food strainer and have used it for years. It works well. Stick with a better product.
