Azomite is also good for rescueing depleted soils and diseased plants. My pine trees came back for chemical induced Pine Blight. My old neighbor liked to have ChemLawn TruGreen spray her entire yard and the blow off messed up all my trees. She no longer lives there and my new neighbors don't use that company.

(More customer reviews)I really like this greenhouse for our tall windows in a very old house. I am growing wheatgrass and this was able to hold 8 trays of plants easily. The zipper on the right hand side broke the 1st day about halfway down and I almost sent it back but the importance of my plants took precedence. I could have called about it but decided it wasn't too important. I am ordering another one for the other window. I am very pleased with the results , hopefully the zipper holds up on the 2nd one.

Easy to assembly and seems sturdy. I am only giving it a 4 star because I was hoping the shelves were stronger but it seems to be holding up really well with all my plants.

Jiffy 5131 Strips 'N Tray 32-Plant Seed Starter Review

(More customer reviews)My experience with this product so far has not been ideal. I bought this at a home improvement store and it did come with a plastic cover (hydrodome)unlike this particular version. However, I would recomend not having one of those lids with this product because of the following concern. If the peat pots are packed into the bottom plastic part as designed they grow blue mold all over the pots because the peat pots + moisture + no air circulation is a great recipe for mold. It does not seem that this mold is interfering with the plant growing at all, but for people who are allergic to mold this is not ideal. I took the pots out of the tray, turned the tray upside down, set the pots on top of it and ran a fan on them and the mold went away. It returns whenever the pots are wet. The second concern I have is the pots suck all of the water out of the soil. I guess the positive side of this is you never have to worry that your plants are going to damp off because it doesn't stay wet enough, but on the flip side watering twice a day to keep the soil from being bone dry is a little much. Also, just a note: when planting the peat pots make sure to cut off the top part of the pot and bury the pot below the soils surface or the plants will dry out and die. Also, it might be a good idea to cut vertically down the pots at planting to prevent the plants from becoming root bound since the pots don't decompose as fast as advertised. The one advantage to these pots is that I will be able to start plants indoors that are hard to transplant, that is if I can keep them alive through their constant drought and mold issues.

Gardman R688 Walk-In Greenhouse Review

(More customer reviews)It took about an hour to assemble it and get it all set up. It was easy to do by myself and the metal poles and plastic connectors are all labeled. The instructions are on the outside of the box, which I didn't care for, since they can get torn in shipping, but mine were fine. They were easy to follow, since it is just a labeled drawing with a few sentences.
I have it on the south side of my house on a concrete patio. On the inside, I tied down a cynder block in each corner to keep it from blowing away and it is doing a great job. I also bought a heater and thermostat for it. At night, inside the greenhouse the temp stays in the 40s, even though the temp outside is in the low teens. During the day, even though the temp is in the 30s, it gets up into the 80s and quite humid inside the greenhouse. I'm in central NC, so the sun is fairly strong and does a great job of heating it up during the day, but once the sun goes down and the temp drops, you'll need a heater (and thermostat) in it to keep it at a specific temp, which I bought at Greenhouse Megastore. I bought the Portable Electric Heater, 120V, Item Number: HT-2000 ($49) and the Portable Prewired Thermostat, Item Number: CT-1000 ($48) and both are doing a great job.

Jiffy 5718 Professional Greenhouse 50-Plant Starter Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the Jiffy 72-plant starter from Walmart at a very low price. It consists of a thin black plastic tray, a transparent plastic cover and another piece of thin black plastic sheet with holes for the peat pellets. The peat pellets are included too. All one has to do is to add water and wait for the peat to expand. (The pellets have fabric wrappings around them to keep them in the right shape, although one of them is broken and the peat overflows into a shapeless mess.) Then seeds can be planted in them. The cover goes on to keep the moisture in. It is important to take the cover off as soon as the seeds sprout roots or stems, for fungus may grow otherwise.
Overall, the whole thing is very cheaply made, but it does work and the (Walmart) price cannot be beat. I have two other starter sets from Gardeners.com. They are made of equally flimsy plastic but in a more sophisticated design (similar to Burpee Ultimate Seed Starting System) with Styrofoam holders that allow the use of ordinary potting soil. They cost 4 times as much, however, and hold only 1/3 as many seedlings. For budget seed growing, Jiffy remains the best bet.

It's adequate for starting plants from seed, but my main complaint is that for what you get, it's way too expensive. I believe a fair price for this item would be around $20, NOT $40. If you do decide to purchase a germination station like this one, buy the one with the taller top - it doesn't take long before the new plants start running into the 2" tall lid.

I bought this greenhouse to start seedlings in the house before transplanting them outside for spring, and also to host a little herb garden in the kitchen area.
Firstly, the measurements listed here are accurate. This is a very large unit, of respectable quality, and very affordable. I have yet to find another unit this size and quality online or in catalogs that doesn't cost twice this much. In fact, this same greenhouse is selling in some places for double this price, plus shipping, so Amazon has quite the bargain here.
Secondly, the greenhouse is incredibly easy to put together. We had it out of the box and set up in less than half an hour, with no onerous tools required. The shelves are a thin metal lattice, to let sunlight filter down to the bottom levels, but the metal is strong and feels very sturdy. The cover has enough lee-way to slip on and off easily, as well as ties to hold it in place, and extends well to the ground, to act as a barrier to curious house cats and naughty puppies.
However, and here's where I docked a star, some extra assembly is really required here. The shelves don't attach into place - they lay on top of the shelving bars, and it is absurdly easy to unbalance a shelf such that the shelf tips over and drops all your plants on the ground, spilling dirt and seeds everywhere. I had this happen and was not too amused. Don't let this put you off your purchase, though, as there is a simple solution: Buy some cheap cable ties (for example, Belkin 7.5IN Multicolored Cable Ties 52 Pieces) and use them to cinch the shelves in place. I used 6 ties per shelf (one in each corner and two in the middle) and the shelves are now completely sturdy and will never shift or move on me. And the cable ties are easy to cut, if you ever need to disassemble your greenhouse during a move.
So, bottom line, definitely buy this greenhouse for the bargain that it is and enjoy it immensely, as I am mine, but do remember to buy the cable ties (or something similar) to ensure that your pots won't fall and break.
