(More customer reviews)This is one of the better apple slicer tools I've used. I've had a few of them over the years; they all do the same basic thing -- but the wide handles are very comfortable and the blades, while not actually sharp-sharp are edged enough to go through fruit well. I might even try to Dremel them sharper though, as the harder apple varieties take a fairly significant force to cut.
The slicer is very well made, though, and even pushing very hard on it doesn't make the handles flex at all, so I do not believe there's much risk of them breaking.
All in all, I would recommend this to others.

(More customer reviews)I bought this along with several other kitchen gadgets using Amazons 4-for-3 promotion. It's been something I've wanted, but didn't necessarily need. Now that we have it though, I'm very glad I bought it.
It makes slicing apples easy and quick. Normally when I make apple pie I peel, cut and core by hand, but with this it cut out one step all together and saved quite a bit of time. Plus the apples were even so they cooked better.
Clean up is easy too, just rinse under some hot water or put on the top rack of your dishwasher.

It isn't the El Cheapo department store variety that is held together with metal staples, bound to end up in the trash can after several uses. With proper care, this steamer should last you several years. Soak the new steamer in cold water for a few hours when you first get it. Always store in an open air place to prevent mildew. Clean up is a breeze, just wipe with a paper towel, or if needed a quick dunk in soapy water and then rinse.
Steamers fit best on woks that are 2 inches larger than the steamer, therefore, a 12 inch wok would work best with this steamer. Other than the recipe on the side of the box, there is nothing in the box other than the steamer. You can cook or reheat your food by placing it directly on the bamboo, paper towel, leaves, parchment paper or by placing it on a heat resistant plate or in a bowl. Also, you can add or remove steamer layers while cooking.
