(More customer reviews)This isn't the worst quality food you could feed, but it isn't a high quality product, either. Yet the price is comparable to premium quality holistic foods-- probably a marketing decision related to Rachel Ray's starpower? I purchased this during an emergency- an ice storm had begun and I was out of dog food, so I grabbed a small bag at a convenient store on the way home from work. My dogs ate it willingly, although they didn't love it.
Nutrish foods (both the chicken and beef options) have lots of indigestible corn, artificial dyes, and gluten. Corn seems to pass through most dogs nearly undigested, leading to large stools and wasted money. Gluten was the ingredient implicated in the tainted pet food scandals over the last couple of years-- it just isn't a wholesome ingredient, and it's one I tend to avoid. The good things I can say about this food are that it doesn't use yucky slaughterhouse "by-products", and that it includes great vegetable ingredients. Overall, there are worse options on the grocery store shelves, but this is an overpriced, less-than-great food choice for your best pal.

After taking him to the vet for like the 100th time for steroids and a super-duper ear washing at the cost of $278, I finally decided to research a better solution. I found that my dog could be allergic to corn or chicken and it would be best to cut that out of his food all together. I found this brand at Petco and ever since we went to this vegetarian formula he has been *basically* allergy free!! He's like a whole different dog!!! Clear eyes, clear skin, lost a bunch of weight, runs around with his brother like they were puppies all over again, doesn't smell and hasn't needed to go back to the vet for his ears!!! My doggy loves this food and I love that he's finally healthy.

MY dog eats it every time right away. She was put on 8 pounds and my vet is very pleased. After seeing the results with this dog I have put all my dogs on Deli Fresh. There coats look good and they eat this food in just a minute or two. It was turned my problems of getting four dogs to eat into a pleasure.

He is AMAZING and I love him.I also have three other dogs and never really payed attention to who eats what. I had a food dispenser and let them go at it all day and night, as well as gave them treats. Dean ended up 19lbs when he should only be 7-10. I could not find any way to get the dog to lose weight. No matter what I tried... Pet smart recently started to cary :deli fresh in the fridge but i passed it by until a woman whos hows her dogs told me not to buy royal cannaine and to try deli fresh. So i went with her idea, I was desperate, you know?? My vet said he ranked 9 on a scale from 1-10 of obesity and that was BAD. well - after about a month he had gotten down to 14lbs, and now about 3 months later he is around 10.8lbs which isnt exactly what he should be, but totally amazing considering what he was.This food is amazin, it saved my dogs life. he can even walk on his hind legs now! glorious food, i swear. Just follow the feeding size instructions, you know???

The product is fresh, with pieces of vegetable readily visible. I slice it up and add it to my dogs' kibble. They devour it. The tubes stay fresh in the refrigerator. It's a good buy -- however, to me, it smells like bologna.

I had him on best quality, expensive food, recommended by the dog people I know, and despite experimentation with various combinations and additives, his stools remained loose and I wasted a lot of food because he would only pick at it.
I bought a sample package of Wholemeal just to try it for something different, and he loved it! Not only does he inhale them, but there is no wastage, and he hasn't had a loose stool since we changed over to Wholemeal. Best of all, it's really easy to pack his food to go visiting or for a stay at the kennel.
My only complaint is that they are not available at a pet store near us, and shipping costs an arm and a leg.

Previously Wellness Core had given me fairly good results with allergies etc, but the stools were 'greasy'. I also had them on Orijin, but had horrible sloppy stools on that. I had been searching for a grain free food that had some carbohydrates in it to reduce the protein and fat content, but has no grains. This food ticks all the boxes and then some! Great stools, shiny coats, no more 'eye goop', less hair loss, no more 'itchies'! They have been on it about a month and a half, and the difference in the three girls is absolutely amazing. Love it!

(More customer reviews)OK--I know dogs are omnivores, like people, and can eat plants & animals. However not all breeds have evolved to handle some diets equally well, and the rise in allergies in pets attests to that. With veterinary advice, we tried several different foods (all natural without preservatives, Iams, Science Diet, etc.) and none cured our dogs' skin problems long term. I wanted to avoid preservatives like ethoxyquin, BHA and BHT, plus artificial colorings, and my reading suggested they might contribute to some skin allergies too. After much trial and error we discovered Nature's Recipe, and have been so impressed with the results. Our toy poodle's hot spots disappeared, she quit the obsessive licking (no longer itching), and has enjoyed the food and remained vibrant and healthy eating only Nature's Recipe Vegetarian Canine Allergy Formula. We noticed another possible bonus: her dark "tear stains" disappeared (I think due to no coloring agents) and her white fur is beautiful again. Try this food in a small bag first, and allow your dog to adjust to the new diet gradually by incorporating it with present food, a little at a time, and I hope you'll be as impressed as we are! (More customer reviews)I have two adult male beagles and have tried quite a few "boutique" level dog foods from Innova and Orijen over the past couple of years since they seem to be perennial favorites. I monitored my dogs closely from their stools to their coat and immediate response after eating. I found the Innova lines to make them lick their chops for about 10 minutes after each meal (likely due to the very high protein levels). They also gained a little bit of weight so I had to cut down their intake (to what seemed like almost nothing). This food, as I understand, is better suited for high-energy/activity dogs.
The original Orijen was better, but the fish-based proteins and Omega 3s ranked high for me, so I ended up switching to the 6 Fish. They've been enjoying it for a little over a year and the popularity has grown so much that at one point this year, it was almost impossible to find. It has also received a few awards this past year. The 29.7 lb bag lasts the two about 2 months.
In short, Orijen 6 Fish has drastically improved the coat, stool, energy level, and overall health of my two beagles compared to any store bought brands.

While many dog food manufacturers use real lamb - and not lamb meal - in their adult formulas, this is the ONLY manufacturer that uses real lamb in its Puppy Formula as well. Hounds have sensitive stomaches and lamb digests best without upsetting their stomaches. It also promotes a shiny, healthy coat while minimizing shedding and flakey skin conditions that are experienced by some breeds. The food nuggets are small in size and appropriate for all breeds and sizes of dogs; the nutritional values are the highest or on level with that of many so-called "premium" brands - and better than that of some. I have fed Premium Edge Lamb - both adult and puppy - to my Salukis for 12 years and heartily recommend it. Read the order of ingredients in your pet's food; they are listed in the order of most to least included in the product. "Lamb meal" contains ground bone and other waste as well as the meat itself; this manufacturer uses only the Meat.

After testing hundreds of pet foods in a non-bias way, Orijen is considered to be the healthiest overall and most biological appropriate petfood in the entire world. My dog loves the taste. It is grain free and free of all artifical preservatives such as ethoxyquin, BHT, BHA etc. It is very high in protein and many other nutrients, which is great for all breeds of dogs. What I especially like about the Six Fresh Fish with Sea Vegetables flavor is that it uses fish oil instead of chicken fat, which is almost impossible to find. This food is also hypoalergenic, so if your dog has food allergies, especially to chicken or grains, this is the food to get. This food is great for dogs whether or not they have food allergies. I have two different flavors of the Orijen dog food and give my dog both flavors each day so he has some variety in his diet. I highly recommend this food. Well worth the little bit of extra price.

(More customer reviews)we've been feeding our french bulldog puppy this for the last 2 months since we have been shopping around for a regular food to settle on. our dog has a breed-specific sensitive stomach and in comparison with all food she ingests, she definitely needs something with red meat in the first few listings of the dog food's ingredient list. we're satisfied with the food's quality and she doesn't seem to be a picky eater, but we'll be looking more into something with red meat as one of the most prominent ingredients used.

I reported this to Amazon whom I got it from and they sent me another 6 pack for replacement BUT it also smelled badly...At this point I gave up trying. I am all for organic but this stuff was poor in my opinion. Allot of it seemed like hard rice and it smelled like cigarettes and bad bacteria. I wouldn't buy it again.
