(More customer reviews)Turns out this works better than I thought. You put the lemon in cut side face down (towards the holes) and it squeezes the lemon and turns it inside out. I have a bit of arthritis in my hands and wondered if I would have the strenghth. It practically squeezes itself.

Norpro Stainless-Steel Citrus Juice Press Review

(More customer reviews)I had bought one of the cast aluminum citrus press a week before and broke it after one day. As I use it mostly for limes and lemons I didn't want a stand type press because it took up too much kitchen counter real estate. So I did a search on the net and came across this one.
First it's stainless steel and built tough,very heavy duty. second it's got a 3" bowl, large enough for the large limes and lemons, but I'm afraid that it's too small for most oranges sold in supermarkets.
I feel that the design could be improved with another roll of holes in the bottom of the press, but other than that it's the best I've come across. Since I've received it, I've had a chance to look in several specialty cooking stores and haven't found one comparable.
**** Update, it's now 8/15/07. I use the press almost every day (my favorite drink is 2 packets of splenda, one fresh lime and a quart of carbonated water over ice). The press is in the same shape it when I bought it. No deformation of the handles (I'm a big guy 6'6" and 325 lbs and I've really squeezed the handles hard), after a pass through the dishwasher it shines like new.
**** Update it's now 11/18/2009. Still using it just about every day and it still looks and works like new.

OXO Good Grips Citrus Squeezer Review

(More customer reviews)I've used a large variety of tools over the years to juice citrus, and I was excited when I learned of this tool. Not only is it by Oxo, a leader in kitchen gadget innovations, but Cooks Illustrated also rated it as the top method for juicing limes.
I'm happy to report it does indeed juice limes very well! People without a lot of forearm/wrist strength may have to brace the bottom handle of the squeezer on something, and all the juice doesn't drain out of the squeezer until you remove the spent half-lime (it could use a few more drain holes), but it's effortless for me and I don't get juice all over my hands like when I use a reamer. For a lime squeezer, I give it 5 stars.
For a lemon squeezer, it leaves something to be desired. Working with an average supermarket lemon, it doesn't squeeze out as much juice as a reamer would (leaving some still in the lemon, wasted), and worse, squeezing hard causes lemon juice to squirt out the side for a sticky mess to clean up. Still, it is easy to use, if not very effective, so for a lemon squeezer, it gets 3 stars.
Since this is marketed as a citrus squeezer and not a lime squeezer, I averaged my two ratings to award 4 stars. If you're going to use this tool for limes and only the occasional lemon, the Oxo Citrus Squeezer is an excellent buy.

(More customer reviews)This is now one of my most favourite kitchen gadgets. I got this after trying out many other lemon squeezers. This one is by far the easiest to use , and really easy to wash! Best of all its a 2 in one for lemons and limes. Although I think it is just a lil too pricey, given its sturdiness it just might be worth those $$!

(More customer reviews)We have the orange, lemon, and lime squeezers. Ease of squeeze diminishes as size increases and fruit becomes firmer. An older, drier orange would be almost impossible for Hulk Hogan to get a drop out of. A small, juicy lime would be a whiz for an arthritic grandma.
Our objections are, the enamel peels off where the juice contacts it most strongly and repeatedly, so that bits of paint fall in your food preparations; the acid in the juice attacks the bare aluminum and causes pitting; waxy coatings from the fruit which build up on the inside surfaces of the juicers attract dirt and mildew and are virtually impossible to remove; and finally, the pin that holds the pieces together is steel and rusts.
Although these juicers get the juice out, we're now looking for an all stainless steel model with long enough handles so it doesn't take a lot of strength to juice a lemon, and doesn't shed paint and collect crud that can't be removed.
