(More customer reviews)So much easier than boiling skin off tomatoes. It does not damage the tomato at all. Not quite as easy as using a potato peeler, but I have a lot more practice with one of those. In fact, I get better at using this peeler each time. It works best when the tomato is cold.

(More customer reviews)I certainly agree with the reviewer who said this peeler performed awesomely on peaches. (It also works nicely on nectarines and other soft fruit.) It also comes with a hard plastic blade guard that protects the blade when it's tossed in a drawer. Like others, I purchased this item for the wrong reason (in order to qualify for the extra $25 off an order of $125 or more), but I am certainly glad I did.
5/11/06: This peeler also does a fine job on ripe tomatoes (for those who do not wish to peel using the traditional scalding method).
11/04/06: I have purchased several for 'stocking stuffers'. You might consider doing the same.

(More customer reviews)I have a drawer full of vegetable peelers in all sorts of styles, shapes and colors that I have accumulated over the years but theZyliss Y Peeler is the only one I ever use. It's really the best.
It is well designed and very accommodating to my individual needs. I have arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome and simple kitchen tasks such as peeling carrots are painful if not impossible but the Zyliss Y Peeler makes peeling much easier for me as well as more safe and comfortable.
I have been using different Y peelers for years now, ever since a Swiss chef I once worked with presented me with my first Y peeler as a little Christmas gift back in the 80s. Once I got use to it, I just loved it. I had that one for years but recently had to replace it. The original one had a short handle so I thought I'd experiment with the longer handle of the Zyliss and I'm glad I did. It feels great in my hand and causes no wrist pain when I grip it. It glides over everything I need to peel with the greatest of ease.
I never thought I'd be raving about a vegetable peeler but the Zyliss Y Peeler is so nice I must give this fine kitchen essential my most enthusiastic 5 stars!
