The water seal in this really works, and TSM products is right here in Buffalo NY. Be sure you get the matching stone weights. Don't fill it to the top, just 2/3 full to allow for expansion during fermentation. Great product.

(More customer reviews)Just finished my first batch of Saurkraut after 6 weeks in the TSM pot. I did not realize you need to fill it no more than 2/3 so the cabbage could expand as it ferments. The stones were tight against the rim inside. I did get them out and the kraut had absolutely NO mold on top. No odors in the house either. My husband thought I was nuts when I started this but now he is a believer. And the kraut is wonderful, crunchy, not too sour or salty; much better than store-bought.

TSM Products Fermentation Pot, 10 Liter capacity Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this pot after I had purchased 2 sizes of the Harsch Fermenting pots just because I liked the color and shape of the TSM and wanted to try it and compare with the pots I already use. I still like the color and outside shape, but those are the only things I prefer to the Harsch pot. The TSM has a smaller channel for the lid and does not hold as much water. That means that one must be more attentive and diligent in keeping the channel filled to maintain the seal and I definitely prefer the lower maintenance Harsch pots. The interior of the pot narrows towards the top and I apparently didn't buy enough veggies as I should have because the stone weights weren't big enough and I needed to add paper-weights to cover the large area that weren't weighted by the stones. The straight sides of the Harsch pot make it easier to make smaller batches if you aren't perfect in your calculations of how many vegetables to buy and process. I didn't like was that the edge of the lid was not glazed and the lid itself absorbed water from the channel that gets slimy. It seemed unsanitary. The water absorbtion was also an issue with my first batch because as the lid swelled, a large crack revealed itself. (Amazon was great about replacing it.)

There is a huge difference in the pickles and the relish. The relish is delicious, but it is not what I wanted. I can't find the pickles anywhere now. They aren't even listed on Patak's web site, so they may have discontinued this item.

(More customer reviews)I first bought pickled asparagus at an Amish market and it was love at first bite. Hence, when I saw these on the discount rack at the local Safeway I cleaned it out. These are even better than the ones from the Amish market. They are fantastic, and some of the jars have a bonus clove of garlic at the bottom. I'm going to order the six pack and I'm a household of one. They wont go to waste!
